Not your typical Clayton eatery, which is nice. It's a place the workers can go when their bosses are at the Capital Grille, to be themselves and eat the food they like to eat. Come as you are. It's very clean, the prices are fantastic, and the portions are large. It's average diner food. It wasn't my favorite, but it was fine. Lots of Elvis decor!
My one gripe? We were served by a lovely, very clean looking young man who was obviously in training. I thought he did a fantastic job. Friendly, courteous, attentive, pleases and thank you's. He was being trained by a woman who has obviously been there for a long time. I feel like she didn't really give him a chance to even try to do the job. She didn't give him a chance to ask questions, talked over him, and stepped on his feet. Why not let him try, and then step in if there needs to be a correction? I thought he was doing an awesome job for a trainee. Have faith in the workers. When people are micromanaged, they leave jobs. I know it's hard when your restaurant is your...
Read moreNot from here but I saw the place online and thought I'd give it a try! I was in awe of how cute and fun looking the diner was! I then was hardly even greeted by a server that was extremely rude and trying to rush. She took my order and completed ignored that I had a friend with me wanting food as well? It would only make sense you ask both people what they want? When we told her we wanted another order of tenders she huffed and puffed. She put them on two tickets. They were supposed to be on one but she didn't ask so she didn't know. I got more huffs and puffs when I told her we are paying together. I saw her folding silverware so I took my guess that's she's half a$$ing her job because she's about to leave. That should never be the case. As good as the food was and as cute as the atmosphere was I will never return because Karen was karening. Also the other lady behind the bar was cussing under her breathe about kids waiting in the WAITING around for their ride. Just rude people and bad service all together....
Read moreReally great little place for a traditional diner experience. The atmosphere has a classic ambience with many decorations from the classic eras of the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. It's a fairly small space maybe only seating 50 to 70 customers but it seems like it works. The food is also very good, of course not gourmet level, but highly satisfying for the price and expectations. My Reuben sandwich hit the spot. My wife had the baked lasagna which could easily be her dinner and lunch the next day. The kids meals are also hearty portions, like the spaghetti and meatball. Service was perfect as far as I am concerned. I do admit being very picky about waiters/waitresses doing their job correctly and I must say the guys helping us during our visit did not disappoint. They often checked in on us and never left an empty cup on the table. Altogether a pleasant experience which matches the mood in the dining area. I'll be back and I'd recommend it to anybody looking for a great meal at a decent value, especially...
