As someone who lived at 212 Clayton for 4.5 years, I feel like I have perspective on how things have drastically changed and believe that perspective holds some weight. For the first few years, this place was awesome! It had a community feel with families, young adults and hardworking people who just wanted to live in an upscale neighborhood if you will. It was luxury at itâs finest! Unfortunately, the tide drastically turned when 2B Residential took over. I fully understand that decisions are made at the top thus I point no fingers at any specific individual who worked on the property as most of them were very pleasant including all current staff onsite today. This is a review of the company 2B Residential.
Once 2B Residential took over, they successfully turned 212 Clayton into a college dorm. Feel free to check their Instagram page as they literally promote the fact that they were recruiting college students. When I think of âluxury livingâ, I donât think of college students. Once the college students took over, the community feel was gone. Loud parties late at night inside apartments became a problem. Trash was everywhere to the point where they had to remove trash cans and send emails to tell people to stop throwing trash anywhere outside of the trash chute. After that, ironically, trash was still thrown on the ground where the trash cans used to be. Parking became a nightmare because individuals were sneaking their friends into the parking garage to the point where we, as residents, had to prove our vehicle make, model and license plate on several different occasions. Cigarette smoke inside units became a problem. However, I will give credit to 2B Residential as I believe after my many documented complaints about cigarette smoke with my next door neighbor, that individual was evicted. But again, not exactly âluxury livingâ.
The management team prior to 2B Residential would schedule monthly events that were fun and engaging which made the building vibrant! Since 2B residential took over, minimizing cost clearly became the priority so those fun events quickly went away. Ironically, they have jacked up rates so high that, apparently, itâs most affordable to college students.
Check their Facebook page. The cover photo shows a great picture of cabanas over a pool. Donât be fooled as those cabanas have been removed. It looks great but itâs just false advertising.
Iâll end on a positive note that helps me avoid providing a 1 star. The maintenance guys are awesome! Theyâll go out of their way to help you with anything. Seeing that the rent has increased so much at 212 Clayton in the face of a clear cost cutting by 2B Residential, you should be rolling in the dough and I thus suggest you give those guys a...
Read moreI have been living here since 2019 and I urged future tenants to avoid this place.
When I first move into Two Twelve in 2019, everything was beyond perfect. Everyone working here (concierge, leasing agents and maintenance staffs) cared about the well-being of tenants. The facilities were well-maintained and there was absolutely nothing that I could complain about. A lot of five star reviews on Google were left back in those days and I would have also left a five star review too.
Things changed since Covid as a new owner purchased Two Twelve. The new owner who is also the current owner changes everything. They changed every staff of this building, and a lot of management issues arised.
As a very recent example, one of the three elevators in this building has been down for more than a month and it is still not working today. This drastically increases the wait time for elevators. If you are taking elevators during rush hours, you should allow for extra ten minutes waiting time.
The management claimed it took time to obtain an important part of the elevator and that it apologized for the inconvenience over email.
I don't know anything on elevator mechanics, BUT there are less supply chain issues now compared with two years ago, and I firmly believe if the management is willing to pay an extra price, the elevator part can arrive much sooner.
In a situation where it is truly impossible to obtain the elevator part, I think the management should at the very least offer some rent reductions to the tenants. Tenants in this building have high-paid jobs and are usually very...
Read moreDefinitely not âluxury living at its finestâ. Still had 6 months left on my lease but decided to move out early because of how unbearable living here had become. Management can be summed up as relatively friendly (they get paid to be) but utterly incompetent. Experienced multiple issues while living here, from privacy violations to petty theft of grocery/food deliveries, to even being forced out of the parking garage and left to find street parking because of management incompetence, all of which went unaddressed throughout my tenancy.
Even with all the ongoing issues, the property still has the audacity to not only continue to increase rent for subpar living conditions (one of the air conditioner units in my apartment never worked in two years), but they started charging extra to enjoy the âcovetedâ amenities. When I first moved in, you were able to reserve common spaces on the roof without any problems, but later on they started asking you to pay $1k to be able to use the amenities with guests (I wish I was exaggerating the price). Imagine getting charged to have people over at your own house when youâre already paying $3k a month to live theređ« .
With so many new luxury residential developments in St Louis, I urge any prospective tenant to not even consider this property and look at more modern options throughout the city. Trust me, thereâs no added benefit of living in downtown Clayton except maybe the views, but even those arenât worth 20% annual...
