This is clearly a boutique hotel with only 32 rooms in a historic registered building. The rooms have been remodeled and are spacious and well appointed. I had a double queen room and it was large with chairs, dresser, small refrigerator with refreshment area, hanging clothes area, a floor mirror and lamp, a steamer, and a luggage table. While the bathroom was a little smaller than you would expect with such a spacious a room, it was very adequate and included a walk-in shower with dual heads, a vanity top with smart mirror that included a TV, and a Toto washlet bidet seat. The seat warmer on the Toto was nice, especially considering it was 18° in St. Louis, when I arrived and 12° another night during my stay. This place is a Marriott but it's heart is clearly wrapped in the family-owned sense of pride of personal service. This place seems to be the perfect venue for meetings, reunions, weddings, or other get togethers for groups under 100. The restaurant is very good and includes a nice bar with a moderate selection of mainstream and premium offerings. The restaurant pricing is exceptional- considering the quality of the food. Here you can get a 16 oz ribeye cooked to perfection with sides for less than $50. Considering the cost to eat at other restaurants in this town, this is a bargain. For sure this is not the Marriott Grand with big open lobbies and meeting spaces. Check out the pictures and see how the quaint historic building is different from that regular Marriott offering. The rooms are very quiet, and it has been easy to sleep here without interruption. This area in Clayton is a close walk to quick stops, bars, diners, coffee shops, and restaurants. In fact, if you are looking for a restaurant other than the hotel, you can start by walking right next door to the coffee shop with lunch and breakfast offerings. All in all, this is a nice place with rich offerings if not a bit quirky- but in a good way.

Don't stay here until they have their renovations completed AND they have a bit to wring out the new processes and procedures. We stayed here (one night, two rooms) during a family visit. It was a comedy of errors, except we paid quite a bit for this bit of fun. On the plus side, the staff was nice and attentive. The renovated rooms were quite nice. BUT! 1- We could not get room keys for about 4 hours because "the key machine wasn't working". Don't know what the new front desk lady did that was magical, but I watched her set cards on the card coding pad, type on the PC, then hand it to me. Until we had those cards, we basically had to find and have the front desk lady let us in the room any time we left. 2- We went to the bar for a drink and the bartender was great. She knew all about the local beers and let us sample them. When we made our selection, *Pfft*, the CO2 ran out. No, really. No ability to pour beer. So, we had a bottle instead. 3- The room my kids stayed in had two TV's! Unfortunately, NEITHER WERE HOOKED UP OR WORKED. Basically, shiny black flat abstract art pieces rather than working televisions. 4- Construction was ongoing and it appeared that there was no effort made to clean up construction debris. There were hunks of plaster everywhere and it didn't appear anyone took the time to run a broom or vacuum around the facility at all. 5- We were told that breakfast would be at 6:30. When we headed downstairs, we were told by the front desk that it was the weekend, and breakfast is supposed to be at 7am. Unfortunately (again) the guy setting up the breakfast was late, so it would be 7:20. Long story short, the guy setting out breakfast put out the last piece at 8:15 am. 6- would it kill ya to have a small refrigerator in the room? I'd rather have a little fridge to keep my beer/snacks/sodas instead of a heated seat toilet and remote controlled bidet.

First visit for brunch. Small variety of food: sausage, scrambles eggs, bacon and biscuits (no gravy so that was weird). There is an omelette station so that was a plus. It was cooked very well and it was actually big enough for us to split. On the bar was some cereal options, breads, bagels, danishes, milk, o.j. and cranberry juice. There were no glasses available so paper coffee cups had to be used so that was also weird to us. The staff was really nice and for a moment we were told that we had to pay for her breakfast cocktail separately with cash..? That was also weird and a little suspect but when the bill came, it was on there as well. Price point isn't bad at $12 per person for all you can eat, considering I had an omelette, 2 pieces of bacon, 1 sausage link, one slice of really good bread a water and an O.J. while my wife had an omelette, 1slice of toast, cranberry juice and an adult beverage ($9 for 1 but for $15 you get bottomless Bloody Mary's or Mimosas). Overall it was good and the only reason I didn't 5star it is because of the no gravy for the biscuits and no real glasses for non alcoholic beverages, excluding the water, which was brought to is by the bartender. I know this is fairly new for them so I understand there will be adjustments made as feedback is received by customers. All that said, we are excited to try some of the items in their regular menu and sit on the beautiful patio and we are glad to have found another good spot to enjoy our typical Sunday mornings and look forward to coming back to see how things progress.

I'm on the fence rating SEVEN GABLES INN a 3, when my gut is saying 2. It's just not anything near to its Marriott advertising/promo. I've stayed at 3 Marriott Tribute Portfolio Collection hotels in as many months, and each was disappointing in a number of ways. But I'll try be fair.||Our "Larger Studio King" came in at $1,018.12 total for a Friday through Sunday stay (3 nights, Fri. @$280, Sat & Sun @ $297 plus taxes, plus $9 daily to self-park across the street in an unsecured lot, and some unknown amount to use the in-room safe, which required a credit card to use - I skipped that!) So at these rates, It's reasonable to expect excellent quality. Room 318 was spacious, with an "open plan" that included a seating area w/sofa & tv, reading chair, then the bed occupying the lion's share of the room, plus a large bathroom. TOTO washlet toilet seat was an appealing feature there. There was a coffee maker w/capsules, but we had to ask for replacements after our first night & morning, since they ignored that little jog in the living area when they tidied up the 2nd day. The mini refrigerator had no freezer, and when we asked the desk the location of their ice machine, were told there is none in the hotel. We asked for luggage racks since there was insufficient surfaces on which to place luggage. We don't like to empty everything out on arrival, even for three nights. Not possible, no luggage racks in this hotel. One closet had a few hangers, the other had none. Had to call down again to have more delivered.||We slept fine and the room was quiet enough once we shut off the air conditioning, which is very loud. I don't like to feel as if I'm on a transatlantic flight with the engine droning on when I'm in a hotel. If you like white noise, this wouldn't affect you. I can't tolerate it, so...the building must be fairly well insulated as our room stayed comfortable all night. We dropped the a/c down when we were out of the room, to keep it cool, but shut it off whenever we were in the room. Tried but couldn't open any windows (there were four small windows in this unit). Had to ask for a 2nd robe, and there were no slippers as listed among the amenities. ||A problem in this building that is on the National Register of Historic Buildings is that there are very few wall outlets, so we had to switch out our devices often. There was one multi-connect electric plug-in on one side of our bed, but not on the 2nd nightstand. This would have been useful. Being an antique building, the floors and the bathroom door creaked loudly, a problem in the middle of the night when one of us rose to use the bathroom. No way NOT to wake up your partner. Can't remember the last time I wish I'd brought along some WD40. ||At breakfast downstairs (independent of the in-house restaurant "Seven" that appears to be an independent operation) it was basic Marriott motel fare, though numerous Marriott suite hotel properties like Springhill Suites offer far better breakfast options. Today (our 2nd morning) there was no fruit when we got to the dining space. There had been our first day. "Do you have any more fruit?" Sorry, we're told, there was a large party in here before you and they ate all we had. WIth still an hour to go on breakfast service, you're already out of our breakfast main? The dining staff person, to her credit, rustled up one orange and one apple, and a half hour later returned with a small fruit salad. Okay, and appreciated, but this should have been in the buffet when we arrived.||The photos advertising this place are misleading; the rooms feel far more well used than they appear. Nothing says "special", and so why Marriott is trying to sell this "boutique hotel" idea when they have neither the quality nor the staffing to sustain this is frustrating. At these prices, I would like a bell hop to handle luggage; I'd like the front desk staff to be professionally dressed, not looking like they were hanging out at home on a weekend; I'd like a European-style buffet breakfast that offers variety and that is well tended, and (for the price) an upgrade from any Interstate-adjacent chain hotel. And that brings to mind a plus: the location of the Seven Gables is good, away from Interstate noise and dense retail strip traffic. There are numerous restaurants within a short walk, though nothing that could be called fine dining. Enough to satisfy, though.||So, final assessment: very overpriced for what they offer. Just not worth the extra $100 a night over the typical Marriott properties. This property is poorly staffed. While there are bodies on hand, and they were helpful to the degree they could be, they're not particularly interested and show no signs at all of having any pride of place. It's a hotel trading on the nostalgia of vintage mid-century city hotels, but it has no foundation for that. Definitely...

Seven Gables Inn was less than satisfactory in nearly every way except for room quality.

I choose them as my Bridal Suite to stay in the night before and of my wedding day. We also had a second double queen room for the groom to stay in the night before. Both rooms were cleaned, beautiful, spacious, with some really great amenities. The Bridal Suite had three living spaces providing plenty of room to spread out and provided great backdrop for photos. The bedroom had a desk and sitting areas, the living room was gorgeous, and the bathroom had a bathtub big enough for two but very snug and HEATED toilet seats!!! The double queen had a tv in the bathroom mirror which for whatever reason was the highlight for my now husband.

Now lets get into all of the ways this establishment fell short. When we arrived for check-in I requested the romance package be added on to our second night of the stay so we could come back to a little treat of champagne and brownies. They assured me this would be added to my room and charged to my card. As you can assume I was a little disappointed to find it was not there when we arrived but ultimately not surprised since I had only seen 4 people on staff the entirety of our stay.

While the lack of snacks was disappointing it was nothing compared to the food that was around. Specifically the room service tray of alfredo that was outside the neighboring rooms door when we arrived Friday at 3pm (it looked old when we arrived then) and remained there until sometime between 1:30pm when we left for photos and 9pm when we arrived back at the hotel had cleaned it up.

Those photos we left at 1:30pm to take were also supposed to be shot at the hotel in there courtyard. However, upon our arrival we found a giant tacky white tent up for a special event covering the purpose of the spaces beauty and rendering it useless. The staff had originally assured me upon booking we could utilize the space but that was far from the case day of. Luckily we had a gorgeous venue and simply were able to pivot our timeline.

The true saving grace of this establishment was one woman who worked doubles every single day. I saw her in every role during our time there. She was a waitress, a bartender, a front desk concierge, and my personal hype man. This young woman I sadly never got her name but she was absolutely a pure ray of sunshine. There was not one time I saw her that she looked upset to be there or upset to help those around her. She was the only waitress in the restaurant they run and She still managed to be amazingly attentive. If management reads this, that woman needs a raise! Thank you , you kind angel!

The food at Seven was divine as well, timeliness was an issue but every item we ordered was delightful and that Aviation purple gin drink was just what my nerves needed!

Overall, The place got the job done I needed it to even if not in the most hygenic way. I would never stay again but really nothing can takeaway from the pure magic our...
