St. Louis County Library–Mid-County Branch — Attraction in Clayton

The library offers curbside pick up and they hold books for so long before returning them to the shelf. I have a 3 year old who loves her books. But since this pandemic she has been burned out on all the books she has. I am able to request a bundle of books, picking how many I want and some examples of books she likes. It has become her favorite thing that she looks forward to because it’s always a surprise on the books she’ll get. We make it a part of our weekly routine to visit the library and grab books for the week. The reading rewards program that they had in the winter actually got me reading more. If there are books they don't have in house, they can be ordered and sent from other locations or you can make a request for the book to be purchased. The programs they offer are very beneficial. My family loves the library, but unfortunately, this branch hasn’t been a great experience for us. I believe the staff could benefit from professional development, particularly in areas like DEI and racial sensitivity training. Some staff members seem to judge individuals based on their race, treating them as if they’re second-class citizens.
