I happened to be in the area and found this restaurant via Google search. It's incredibly clean and attractive. I enjoyed a plate of chicken in a coconut milk sauce, rice and beans, grilled plantains and salad that came with shredded lettuce and tomato with a tasty dressing. It was so good I had two! I will definitely return!
Note that grilled plantains are not on the menu but rather an honored special request.
I did also ask for sauce on the side and that is how it arrived at the table.
I had a Jamaica to drink ..a drink made from hibiscus flowers. This too is not on the menu but was made for me.
Special shout- out to Mary, my waitress! Is she the owner or co- owner too?

I was truly impressed by the good flavours, great service, and familiar atmosphera of this small restaurant. Highly...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in at the Green Banana, not knowing much about Clayton. We're so glad we did. The Green Banana has some of the best food I've had in NC. The Mixed Fajitas (chcken and beef) were absolutely incredible. The Fried Yucca appetizer whetted our appetites before the fajitas.
The atmosphere felt like we were amongst friends...in a small cafe in a small neighborhood surrounded by friendly people. They made us feel welcome.
We'll be back to The Green...
