I have seen this restaurant off of 70 in Clayton when traveling through the area for work. I just never stopped in until Saturday 10/21/17 with my family. I am upset that I didn't visit this place sooner. They have been located here for approximately six months.
Let me start with the walk-in. Upon entering, my wife, son, cousin and I were greeted immediately. I told the owner it was our first visit and he proceeded to tell us about the menu and even provide samples of most of the items available, jerk, brown stew chicken, oxtail, soup and more. This is by far the best tasting Jamaican food I've had in a long time. The rest of the family agreed. We proceeded to put in our order after the taste tests. We wanted to try some of everything and it was well worth the money spent. My favorite menu items were the Beef Patties and Jamaican Cola's. If you've never had a Jamaican Cola, you have to try it!
My family and I will definitely be making this a regular stop in the near future. My wife already wants to return a day later, but she'll have to wait because they are closed on Sundays. I would highly recommend a visit to Jamaica Bites. You will not be disappointed. Great tasting food and very reasonable prices are...
Read moreI want to be very honest . Myself mother and sister as well my child went in for lunch . The people that worked there greeted us i ordered a medium ox-tail and curry goat with rice and peas . My mother ordered just ox-tail and rice and peas and cabbage . My sister had the curry chicken rice and peas cabbage . My daughter had macaroni and cheese . The first bite we all starred at each other like what the hell is this . I’m from New Jersey and it’s a melting pot especially for carribean people/food and it’s safe to say i know authentic Jamaican food when i eat it. Everything i repeat everything tasted like coconut milk the rice was over cooked the cabbage tasted like coconut everything besides the goat thank god!! I’ve never been more dissatisfied to top it off i ordered a salt fish to go. I just got home took 2 bites and it’s horrible I’ve never had coconut flavored salt fish like seriously i feel so disrespected. I was the bigger person i paid for my food and i left . I will never recommend this place to anyone i know i knew better but i should’ve stuck to what i know taste of Jamaica is where to go seriously . A refund is not needed i just...
Read moreAfter going here almost every weekend for the past couple months, I must say the food is NEVER consistent. Always hit or miss. I wanted to love this place so bad because it is the only restaurant of its kind around here and it offers healthy, flavorful food. Consistency is an issue. The chicken has been seemingly re-heated or old, the sauce for brown stew is watered down and doesn’t hold well so it leaves the chicken dry unless you spoon the sauce on top before eating. Chicken will either be cooked perfectly or overcooked depending on the day and time you go in. Rice is either mushy, old or just right. Cabbage and carrot either cooked or raw . I didn’t expect much of mac and cheese from a Jamaican restaurant but it’s pretty decent when fresh. The guy behind the counter is ALWAYS nice and welcoming, the lady is hit or miss. I’ve had almost everything on the menu, the taste is never the same. I’ve had to start asking them to show me the chicken before I decide if I want to eat it. Oxtail are great and brown stew beef was also good. The best is their fried red snapper, escovitch or...
