This is one extremely large Mexican restaurant and with it being the newest in Clayton, I was hoping for something impressive.
I was a bit shocked as to how busy this restaurant was and expecting a wait for a table upon walking in, but fortunately for us they still had another room with plenty of seating tucked away in the back.
The chips and salsa are always something I often look forward to at a Mexican restaurant, unfortunately they also served the same mediocre brand as the majority of other Mexican restaurants. I was, however, more than willing to enjoy a second serving while perusing through the overwhelmingly large menu. Based on the fact my indecisiveness started to get the better of me, I ordered the chicken fajitas and spinach quesadilla.
While we waited for the entrees to arrive, we absorbed ambiance of the bustling dining room, mostly containing large groups and families, it felt much like a busy airport.
The entrees arrived quicker than I expected, the fajitas served with the typical vegetables and fixings, everything looked quite good. Although the menu selection indicated they came with cheese, the waitress insisted otherwise, so I had to order a side of shredded cheese. The fajitas were quite filling, but the blandness of the chicken and fixings combined with the fact they only served two tortillas was quite disappointing overall.
I was even more disappointed with the spinach quesadilla, I could not believe how much spinach they stuffed into this quesadilla! Once I shoveled much of the spinach out of the equation and added some sour cream, it became edible, but not something I would ever recommend to anyone else.
I think the price point for this restaurant was reasonable based on the fact you will have plenty to eat, but in terms of quality I would say it is...
Read moreDANGER! PLEASE BEWARE!!! On our last visit to La Cocina Clayton, my wife and I got take out as we frequently have done many times prior. There were no issues with her ACC, or the order of guacamole. My order of chiles poblanos however, came with a nasty surprise inside. A very sharp shard of wood that caused a pretty nasty cut in my mouth. Not ideal. I sent an email later that day through their website, but received no reply. I sent another email a week later. No reply. And one final email the following week. I never received any reply and I forgot about it until going through my receipts and seeing the receipt from this visit. I decided to call today and requested to speak with a manager. I was put on hold and then had a conversation with a gentleman who had nothing to say other than "that sometimes happens", regarding the wood shard, and that "they usually remove it". Furthermore, he refused to do anything to keep us as customers because, as he repeated, "it happened back in February and if you would have contacted us back then...", to which I reminded him that I did. Several times. He then fell into a repetitive loop where it was essentially my fault because no one got back to me via email. It's a shame because the food was usually pretty good and we went there frequently. I do not appreciate the lack of concern or willingness to take ownership of what was clearly their negligence. I saved the receipt and several pictures of the shard of wood to show him if need be, but he seemed uninterested in doing the right thing by a long time customer. Please be careful if you dine there. If you have a problem, you may be treated the way that I...

My family and I decided to try a new restaurant. The restaurant was very busy, as expected for a Friday night but there was only 1 waiter to the entire outside seating area and all tables were completely full. I do give credit to our waiter because even though he needed reminded several times about drinks and dips he tried his best to keep up with all the tables. Eventually, my brother and I ordered the quesadilla chipotle while my other family members ordered a different dish. By the end of the evening the WORST HAPPENED....my brother and I started feeling SICK causing us to be ill the rest of the night. I called the restaurant the very next morning to inform the manager of what happened with the quesadilla chipotle. I spoke with the manager, Benjamin, and his response was INSENSITIVE by immediately denying any problem with their food and stated, if you’re sick go to the doctor. In other words, could CARELESS you and your brother became sick on the same meal at our restaurant but not our problem so don’t call us to complain about it or expect any kind of reimbursement.....call a doctor. Again.....BEWARE!!!!! They will take your money but will not take any accountability for any negative reactions their food causes...
