Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Clayton

Ordered @ drive through. Speaker and mic was not very good, missed the first item I ordered. Had to add it at the window and wait.

There was a hole in the bottom of the large sweet tea, unnoticed, which filled my center console up before I could get home.

Person at window struggled with English.

And finally, opened the shrimp platter when I got home to find few shrimp and half of the small portion given was breading crumbs. Pretty disappointing. A picture is worth a 1000 words, see attached.

Update: I received an immediate automated “canned” apology from Smithfield BBQ as soon as this review was posted. It was so quick, it was obviously automated. As they requested in the automated response, I followed up in more details to the email they provided. It has been 10 days now, no response to date. Now I am disappointed twice by lack luster customer service. Just like the lousy plate of food I opened, Smithfield BBQ upper management has proven to be equally lack luster and non responsive. It takes someone just a minute out of their busy work from home job, to read and respond to an email and they can’t even...

I grew up in the area and this is one of my favorite places to go and get BBQ.

I've never had a bad experience here. The staff have always been friendly. Food delicious. Restaurant clean.

The favorite thing to get is the BBQ sandwich value pack. You get a large bag of French Fries along with a large BBQ sandwich. Also, make sure to add some hush puppies, because they are the best you will ever try. Delicious! My only complaint on food is that I've gotten a sandwich to go and taken it home, by the time I got home (about 10 minutes) the bun of the sandwich was soaked through and soggy. I had to grab a bun from my cabinet to replace the one they had given me.

If you go inside and dine in, they have staff that walk around and refill your drinks and make sure you don't need anything. The restaurant has a very welcoming feel to it. I especially love the murals painted on the side.

I will start off saying that 3 yrs ago I gave this location 5 stars. I have to come back and downgrade. The last 2 times we went to this location, we went thru the drive-thru. Both times we asked for the same exact items. They repeated the order back and we proceed to the window. When we get to the window, they hand us our food and we pay but we ask for our drinks. (Who orders BBQ w/o drinks!?!?!) They said we didn't order drinks and it's an ordeal. Instead of saying, "We apologize, what would you like to drink?" we arguing with the people about our drinks. We didn't go for a few months, and we tried again.... Same exact thing.

It's unfortunate because the food is good. I would expect a remedy to the situation instead of an argument. Not sure if the person taking the order and calling it back is in such a hurry that they leave off the drinks by accident or what. Needless to say, we're taking a few more months off from...
