Sandwich Club STLSandwich Club STL
Sandwich Club STL Visited the Posh Nosh in downtown Clayton.Sat 11/11/2017 It was a brisk autumn Saturday around 1 pm.Parking in Clayton can be a little bit of a challenge in this location. We managed to find a spot after circling the block. The Posh Nosh has a nice New York style deli feel to it.The walls are adorned with photos of past patrons and staff. There is also a signed wall in the back full of names and praises of the customer service and good food. The menu is quite extensive and may be worth a study on-line before you arrive. If not they have a convenient paper menu on the front counter as well. Being a NY style deli you can expect such lovely delicacies like corned beef reubens on rye bread and pickles. In fact all the pickles you could ever want, every table has a jar of pickles that you can help yourself to and they are delicious. Our server was friendly and helpful, she even suggested the better option between two sandwiches for one of our more indecisive members.(it turned out to be an excellent choice). We ordered the Beef Dip with Au Jus, The Forsyth (Hot ham, roast beef, provel cheese & garlic butter on grilled Kaiser roll). The Hard Salami, The Rubin, The Club (Ham, turkey, bacon, lettuce & tomato) and The lox and cream cheese with capers. With out going into to much detail on each sandwich we found that everyone was very pleased with their order. The sandwiches although not huge were of great quality and flavor. We ordered the Kinish with gravy one meat one potato. They are delicious too. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our visit, it was all our first time here. High praises to the Posh Nosh no wonder they have been here for 51 years. Good quality, good service great Sandwiches. For the love of sandwiches #sandwichclubstl

This place has changed a ton. They used to have the pickles out for people to get with their sandwiches. It was highway robbery in there! I got this dinky "italian" sandwich and a can of cream soda for 19.00!! They charged 3.75 for a can of cream soda and 14 for this sandwich with no chips or potato salad or anything. None of us will be back. Compare prices from a year ago in pics... almost double.

I worked here in the 2000s when I was a high school student. Visited for the first time in many years, and the quality of the food here is as great as it was 20 years ago. Loved the Rachel & Rebecca. The pickles are excellent. Matzo ball soup. Craft sodas. This is a special, generational business, do check it out.

What has happened to The Posh Nosh?!?! Worst experience we have ever had in a deli. The Posh Nosh in Clayton has completely fallen off the cliff!!!!

Prime lunchtime on a Friday:

Wife ordered lox on toasted bagel with cream cheese, tomato, onion, and capers. I ordered a hot pastrami and swiss. We each had sodas. Waited 15 minutes for our food to be ready. What wife received was a plain untoasted bagel, some salmon and crème cheese— no tomato, no onion, no capers etc. When I brought this to there attention, the response was one piece of lettuce and few halved baby tomatoes on a napkin. Still no onion and capers. The excuse for bagel not being toasted—‘the toaster makes the place smell in here.’ Oh, that pastrami w/Swiss I ordered, showed up with a weak stack of meat on overly buttered bread. Both ‘meals’ served in those little paper deli dishes. $39.00

I have been enjoying The Posh Nosh since I was a kid. It opened in 1966. After 55 years this community treasure was apparently sold to the current operators in Feb. 2022. The only thing that we see that has stayed consistent is the name. I NEVER thought I would post a negative review about The Posh Nosh. To the ladies working there today, appreciate the friendly service, but that is just not going to save your business. Overpriced inferior food? Pitiful. You had big shoes to fill given what ‘The Barons’ had created. I’m sorry, but the probability of this being a successful venture for you...

The only thing i genuinely liked about the place is how fresh the deli meats are.

I came in during lunchtime not knowing what this place is. Their menu is large, but unfortunately the combos and individual pricings make it difficult to decipher for first-time customers. By the time we got past the upselling and payment, what was only two sandwiches somehow became $30? For cold sandwiches? Thankfully we found a groupon so the price was less.

The sandwich itself was no doubt FRESH as hell, but it was very dry and forgettable the way it was served. The person who made my sandwich disregarded everything i wished to add on my sandwich, and served it cold even though it was advertised as a warm sandwich. (Side note-there was no other customer here until long after we received our sandwiches, so I'm not particularly happy about the lack of effort for my 15$ sandwich.)

This was the worst part- for a a 30$ lunch, i expected my sandwich to /at least/ be made to order, like every other sandwich shop.

Also, i noticed that the complimentary bread sits on the counter without serving utensils, risking being tainted by anybody who dares...
