Coal Mountain Caboose — Restaurant in Cle Elum

We were headed over the pass and got a later start than planned so we needed a place to get dinner mid trip. Checked Yelp and this place got good reviews in Cle Elum so we decided to stop. It is a locals place for sure, but we didn't feel unwelcome or out of place. It was Bingo night and the place was filling up quick. I am sure someone was really happy to get our prime table when we left. Looked like it was going to be fun, but we had to get on the road. It looks like a bar, but they have a kid friendly side and a bar side. The service was quick and friendly. We felt the prices were pretty high for a bar style place - a burger was $10-15. However the food did look like large portions and very appetizing. We ended up going with a couple of side salads and the bar dinner specials - fries and chicken strips for $5. Attended the grand opening of the new Coal Mountain Caboose over Halloween weekend. What a wonderful experience! The wait staff, cooks and bartenders were fabulous. Quick service, attentive to refills and other needs and let me tell you…the food and drinks were amazing!!!! Tasted the cheeseburger, the French dip, the Buffalo chicken sandwich and the fries. Everything was delicious! Plus, I highly recommend their tator-tots with a fabulous fry sauce! Delicious and the bacon/cheese combo inside the tots was a great surprise! TLDR; Overall, great service and great food! Zero complaints!

First time being in Washington, so we figured we'd go somewhere local. Find this place, and it's got nice atmosphere and super nice staff. We put in our order and notice it's taking a little bit long, so eventually our waitress comes by and lets us know our ticket got deleted. That's fine, no biggie, we can wait longer on it. The waitress apologized and offered to cover our meals. The waiter that brought our food out to us apologized, and the manager or owner, I'm not sure, came over and apologized.
