Okay let's start off with the food, I ordered house asado, 2 onion empanadas, and a mate tea.
House asado: an assortment of meat that came with the chimichurri sauce, bread, and fries although you can change the fry option with I think russian salad and something else (forgot), you can also sk for more chimichurri sauce and they'll give you some Downside: the meat had a bit of fat to it, made it frustrating to eat
Onion empanadas: was good, nothing special about it other than it was steaming hot (which is a good thing), I was hoping the onions would've been caramelized, but they were steamed, it was decent
Mate tea: The mate wasn't that strong, I was expecting "Litoral mate cocido" which is the one I drink which has a bitterness to it (Which is a good thing) , but this one wasn't that special and it wasn't hot, but warm (I like my tea hot) it also came in a thick mug which made it hard to drink, but they had sugar at the side if you wanted to use it
Now about the restaurant: The utensils were the worst, I had a hard time using them for the asado, they were weak and had no grip to them, they slipped out of my hand constantly. As for the atmosphere: the music played only when it wanted to and then... silence, which only added tension, but there were people talking so I don't think that tension was too noticeable. Also the music isn't traditional argentine music, but something you'd hear on 97.9 radio, [now when I go to a traditional / themed restaurant I expect some traditional music , but unfortunately it isn't the case here, I'm assuming it's because this establishment is not small business but a corporation of multiple businesses] , the waiter just came to check up on me when he wanted to and not constantly, when I was done, I had to signal to them that I was done rather than just having to check up on me
Overall / TL:DR - Food decent, atmosphere and service needs...
Read moreThe food for the most part is really good. The portion sizes however are for the most part very small. The chicken milanesa sandwich for example tastes amazing but its tiny! Its smaller than Jimmy johns subs (which are already smaller than subway) and yet it costs more. $9 for a tiny sandwich and a few fries. Their pizzas are also very small for how much they cost.
The service was also pretty bad. When I ordered the gnocchi pasta, they completely forgot my order. After about 1/2 hour i finally got my food but they didn't bring any of the sides the meal was supposed to come with. I had to ask twice for them to bring my sides, and when I asked if they had certain drinks I was told they'd find out for me but they never did. When i finally got the piece of bread the meal comes with i still hadn't recieved my soup so i again asked for my soup and i was told the meal comes with bread OR soup. I consulted the menu (i still had one at the table) and it clealy states "comes with bread AND chicken or beef soup." Amazingly they still didn't give me my soup.
When i went to pay for the food and leave, I was told the total was $9 more than it should have been. Fortunately I noticed it didn't seem right so I had the guy add everything up for me and sure enough he had over charged me by $9. I won't pass judgement as to whether or not that was intentional, but it just seemed sketchy, especially when they don't bring you a receipt to your table so you can see the total.
Overall I was pleased with how good the food was but I was extremely disappointed with the portion sizes for what it costs and with the service, which is a shame because there just aren't many Argentine restaurants in Utah. I hope they make some changes and if they do I will gladly...
Read moreGave this place two chances. The first time we went, we kind of stood there and no one greeted us for 10 minutes. We realized the owners were actually seated at a table near the soda fridge hanging out. Finally, a man stands up from the table and ushers us to a table. I ordered a sandwich and my husband ordered empanadas. Both means were terrible. My sandwich looked like something I make at home, but the ham on the one they made me looked like prepackaged meat (square ham slices) and store bought bread. My husband said the empanadas were VERY dry. The owners sat at the table and never got back up to see if we wanted additional drinks or anything else. We had to go to their table and ask for the check. We didn’t plan to go back until today we went there for an office lunch unfortunately. This time we both ordered pizza. Again, it was bad. I ordered a small pepperoni pizza and my hubby ordered a medium ham and mushroom. My small pizza looked just like the old school personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut- but freezer burnt. My husbands didn’t like his pizza either. Unfortunately, Argentinian food is only the empanadas which are terrible, but the rest is diner food. I definitely won’t return ever again. Terrible food,...
