My colleague and I were visiting the Clearwater area from Houston, TX and decided to stop by Abe’s Place for dinner. Walking in, the host was very professional and was able to seat us in under 5 minutes, which was impressive for 7PM on a Friday night. The atmosphere was fun and a little quirky. The lights were not too bright and not too dark. The TVs had the Rays game on and a golf tournament (my 2 favorite sports). They also had a TV showing specials and jokes. The crowd was a good mix of families, friend groups, and couples.
I have a food allergy and cannot eat gluten. I ordered the Cajun Burger with no bun. It was filling and flavorful (normally gluten-free options are sad and disappointing). The pickles were delicious, which seems like a small thing but it’s not. Fries were perfectly crispy.
While we were eating, another customer made a scene. Think your classic Karen Facebook video. Tears. Yelling. Guilt tripping. The whole 9-yards. All because she ordered a double top-shelf margarita and did not want to pay the top shelf price. She was “a tequila drinker and knew better”. Management was able to defuse the situation and she eventually left. My interaction with Clayton, the manager, was nothing but positive and feel he respected and listened to the customers.
If you are able to request a server. I cannot recommended Cassidy enough!! Cassidy delivered the level of service that everyone expects from a restaurant. She was personable and made sure our evening was great. Exceptional service all while having a “Karen” in her section. When my colleague and I were finishing our meal, she asked if we wanted anything else to eat or drink. Feeling inspired, we ordered margaritas. 2 for like $8! What a deal!
I will be returning to Abe’s the next time I am...
Read moreHello friends as you already know my name is Abel lol. So when I saw the name of the establishment I wanted to see what this place is all about and food service. To my surprise the parking lot is huge and wraps around the establishment. There is also outdoor dining for those who wish to eat outside towards the right side of the restaurant. Once inside the hostess counter is there and we were immediately greeted. Behind the hostess is the bar, a bit small location and to the left side is the dining area and that too is small. Booths are up against the wall with some section includes window view. In the middle there are open tables. Around the upper wall are screen TV’s and in the middle you will see a toy plane hang. Pretty cool! Now what caught my attention was the fact that this restaurant had condiments and paper towels including hand wipes, YES! Finally someone got it right. lol 1st service and food was excellent! So good I spoke with manager on duty and gave them an on the spot review. 2nd visit it was a disappointment, our waiter came over introduced her self pretended she was the bomb by not writing down our order walked away we got the order and it was incorrect plus missing food items we requested. We never saw her again until we called her out on it. I like this place and the atmosphere, the culture and dynamics are good. You have to come check this place out and try the buffalo wings with poppers. Now would I come back a 3rd time and try again to see if the experience is good? Absolutely, I’ll be coming back and do a 3rd review. I’ll keep...
Read moreWow this was really an awful experience. I am a restaraunt regular, & I have frequented this establishment for years. & I have never experienced anything like this in my life. I ordered my regular drink & was charged $29 which is about $7 more than anywhere else. That's not the kicker though. When I approached the server in regards to this, she said she understands and that's substantially more than what she's paid elsewhere as well. She offered to get the "manager", which I obliged. Upon speaking to Clayton, I explained my situation and without any regards to me, he cut me short and threatened to call the police if I refused to pay. I told him I no longer wanted that drink, because I ordered 2 before getting the price and had an untouched drink that I no longer wanted. The other manager that stood side by side and witnessed this whole confrontation said and I quote, "I will have a talk with him". Literally everyone else working in this establishment acknowledged how out of pocket this "service" worker responded to a paying customer. But wait! It gets better. Clayton sat and spoke with me for a while, after a somewhat reasonable conversation he offered to give me a discount on my food because "he cannot touch alcohol charges". I gave him my card and he didn't even do that. So not only is he disrespectful past belief he is also a liar. I will be returning on Monday to speak with the general manager Michael, because honestly Clayton shouldn't be allowed in the position he holds at this establishment. Unfortunately that is the kind of authority that...
