China Garden Restaurant — Restaurant in Clearwater

We have eaten food from China Garden for as long as it has been there. Alway a good experience until recently. We heard that other family members are now running it or maybe it was sold but the food quality has gone downhill over recent months and our experience this week has finished us as customers. We got two orders of takeout, both of which had no taste. The lomein noodles were mushy and the container was half rice filler. The chicken dish had almost no chicken in it. The taste was so bad that we both threw away the food. We called the store and asked for a refund. After a long discussion and what sounded like an argument on their end, we were told there wouldn't be anything done unless we brought back the food. We said no since it was already in the trash and we were not going to drive back to the restaurant. So the people that run the place are very nice and I always would tell people and my family to come here! I was a customer for about 5 years and I never had a problem. But in June, my boyfriend and I ordered a bunch of food to celebrate moving into our new place and the food had a dead baby roach in it. This has never happened to me ever before. It has taken a couple months to come to terms with it because this was my go to Chinese restaurant. I have not been able to eat Chinese food since and it is so unfortunate because I love Chinese food and I have been coming here for years with no problem. I mean it was summer time ... so maybe something crawled in whole the back door was open. I don't know... it makes me cringe. so maybe that is why. EDIT: Must say, my orange chicken in 12/18 was really sweet and almost in edible. I didn’t enjoy it at all. My wife’s veggie Lo mien was good quality. I have switched to China Wok off Gulf to Bay near Highland Ave. To me, better flavor.

My wife and I love this place, but recently it seems like they have changed cooks or something because the lack of flavor on different dishes we love have been really tasteless. I used to order Kung Po because it was spicy, now it is not. I ordered Dragon and Phoenix tonight in hopes of a second tasty option. I was so disappointed.
