Delhi Palace — Restaurant in Clearwater

We visited Delhi Place in the Clearwater Orlando area which used to be Little India. It had been a week since we last had Indian food and we were excited to try it. The food was good quality but some dishes could be better. The aloo baingan was not fully cooked, the goat curry pieces were a bit tough and I did not enjoy the coconut chutney or sambar. My kid loved the cheese dosa. My little one enjoyed the butter chicken with naan, basmati rice and biryani.

Saif from Kolkata was very kind and helpful. They don’t have huge options of food but enough to enjoy. The palak was nice, the pakoras were tasty and the biryani was good though different from Pakistani style. I wish they served more dal makhani and refilled naan and other food more generously. For dessert they had only one item that is vermicelli kheer for our palate it’s very sweet but the aroma was fantastic. Food comes out in small batches but everything was served hot and fresh.

Having lived in England for 25 years I always enjoyed a nice curry about once a week. The New Dehli replaced an existing restaurant which I liked. A couple of weeks after it opened I gave it a try. The decor had been upgraded significantly and although only getting take-outs (I live 20 miles away) the service has been very good. I have spoken to the chef and discussed diefferent foods. I really want this restaurant to be successful, as it’s convenient for me & I love Indian food. But under the new ownership, they are not yet ready for prime time! It says they open at 11:30, but the buffet was actively being set at noon, rice at 12:05 and naan at 12:15. Nobody even manning the host stand for stretches of time, phone ringing, and there were only a handful of guests. While I was waiting for the buffet to open, I used the restroom.
