My wife and I recently bought a house and were in need of some home decor. Finding this place online seemed like the perfect solution for our needs. I attempted to order online and pick up in store but the website (which is trash) wasn't having it. It kept saying that my card was declined but took the money out anyways. Not sure what to do, I called the store and spoke to Jackson. He was very polite and explained that he couldn't really help with that at the store level. I totally understand. No problem. Thankfully the issue resolved itself and the money was put back in my account. Since the website wasn't working we asked Jackson if he could hold some merchandise for us and that we'd pick it up in the morning. Jackson readily agreed and set about looking for the items. When Jackson came back to the phone he informed me that he couldn't find the items despite them being listed as in stock on the website. Again no problem, it's not his fault. He then told us that if we come in tomorrow and tell the cashier what happened and drop his name that we'd get 10% off. Not necessary but very appreciated. The next day we made the hour and a half drive to get what we needed. When we got to the cashier (who couldn't be nicer) we relayed our story about Jackson and the 10% discount. She said she'd needed the manager. No problem, I get it. Enter Jodi the human dumpster fire. We told Jodi the story and how Jackson said he'd give us a discount for our trouble. Jodi replied "what trouble?!" in the rudest most condescending tone she could muster. She was aggressive and rude from the very start. As someone who has worked in a customer service environment I was shocked by this attitude from the supposed store director. My wife who is much sweeter than me was also shocked and said that's fine don't worry about it. The huge sack of failure named Jodi seemed to take offense to this and proceeded to double down on her bad attitude. At that point we realized that the discount wasn't worth dealing with this abomination so we told her to forget the discount and that we just wouldn't be shopping there again. How did this store director salvage the situation? She said "good! Don't!" and proceeded to stomp away while shouting at the cashier not to give us a discount. What could have and should have been a pleasant shopping experience was ruined by one terrible employee. It's amazing that the other employees were so great considering the example being set by their "director". If you have to shop there beware of Jodi who should probably legally change her name to Karen as it's much more fitting for the sad, angry...
Read moreBuyers who order online should be aware of policies this company has in place regarding how they handle instances of damaged merchandise they send to you. Today I received a damaged laundry hamper I ordered from the At Home website. The item I ordered arrived damaged. There was a large obvious crack running down the base of the item. I took clear photos of the damaged item and sent them to customer service. I did this right away, the same day of delivery. They responded to tell me that they do not send replacement items, even though they have the item available for sale on their website ( so their no replacement policy is not due to a stock issue). In addition they did not offer to at least automatically credit my account for the damaged item I received. Instead , even though I paid for shipping,( which cost more than half of what the item cost as I explained to the customer service dept. that the item I ordered was not available in one of their stores with 40 miles from me). The only way I can even get a refund for the damaged item that they sent to me is if I pack it up and ship the damaged item back to them , with a label they will provide by request, or if I find a store and bring back the useless damaged hamper they sent me. This is a large item and its a further inconvenience to go through the hassle of returning useless junk, never mind the time it takes to do so. What an inconvenience and hassle just to get some of your money you spent in good faith recouped. They will also not reimburse me for the shipping I paid to get this item , that arrived indisputably damaged ,either. I also noted to the customer service rep that the box wasnt damaged or dented in any way so essentially someone in their shipping/ order dept. just sent a defective item without any quality check whatsoever as the damage was very obvious once I opened the box. I understand that sometimes things happen and items may arrived flawed, but better companies at least offer to provide a replacement if they have the item in stock,( which At Home does have in stock online) or they offer reimburse you automatically when you provided you provide proof of the obvious damages through photos, instead of further inconveniencing their customers. I just wanted people to know how they will treat their error and their customers when something like...
Read moreI visited At Home for the first time yesterday. I was really expecting to get some great deals after looking at the website and seeing some great prices. The store is huge! To my surprise, it was empty of shoppers with maybe one other shopper besides my family. I saw absolutely no staff throughout the store within the hour I wandered about, which is fine I guess because I didn't have any questions at the moment. As far as prices...holy moly was it expensive! I was looking for everything garden (pots, planters, deco, chairs). Every pot and planter I could find was so overpriced. Small planters that I fell in love with were $40 or higher. The only ones on "sale" were small plastic ones that I could still find cheaper somewhere else at regular price. Outdoor planters with no hole in the bottom for drainage were $60 or above...thousands of them! I kept thinking "no wonder there are thousands of them". They were small enough to hold in one hand, no hole for drainage and its $60? There was absolutely nothing with a reasonable price. I figured I'd be spending around $20 or so for an 8" clay-ish pot but clay pots were triple that. I was blown away at the overpriced garden table prices and chairs. They weren't even trying to be competitive. The clearance section only consisted of washcloth bundles for $5 which is the normal price for TJ max and shower curtains marked down to $20. Hmmmm, no. I kept seeing signs for "Mark down" items which drew me to the item only to see it wasn't marked down. Everything else in clearance was either cracked or broken bathroom stuff. On the brighter side, there are a lot of neat things in there. There are some really decent gifts and silk plants and home goods. I found some pretty cool metal music sculptures and tall artificial trees and chairs that would be neat to have (if I had the room). They had bed-in-a-bag sets which seemed like a good deal and if I was in the market for that, I might have been interested. In a nutshell, this is not a bargain shoppers paradise but it was an interesting experience. I might stop in again once I have a coupon but something tells me 10% isn't going to make much of...
