I graduated from Clemson and still live near Clemson. Last night I decided to go grab a drink downtown after a long day at work. I was walking, saw study hall and thought why not. When going to the door I was asked to see my ID. The employee saw my age and laughed at me saying that I was ok to go in. I thought that was pretty rude. My friend who’s in the military arrived after me and explained the same rudeness that I received. When he saw that my friend was serving he had the audacity to scoff at him. We sat at the bar and to be fair we got our beers pretty fast. Then some student came in and instead of having a conversation they were screaming to speak even before the live band started to play. The sound system that was set up was done very poorly and all we heard was load screeching feedback from their mics. We both agreed that we were not having a good time and decided to pay our tabs and leave. Now all I had at this point has been 3 beers. The bill came out to be $21, $7 per beer. I can get cheaper beer at a nfl game or a concert. When she brought me my bill she then brought another beer after that and put a new bill in front of me and charged me for that one too. I refused to pay and that’s when the manager asked me to leave for not paying for their service. It was an absolute joke and obviously they don’t care at all about return customers. I will not go back ever again since all they want are young and I mean young college students who obviously do not understand...
Read moreI went there a couple years back and was kicked out because of the color of my skin. I didn’t rate it then because I wasn’t familiar with goggle reviews, but my fiancé brought it up in conversation and it reminded how outraged I was about the whole situation, and how anyone can be treated like that by a white person. I had ordered a couple drinks for me and my fiancé and we were chatting and having a good time, but the atmosphere in the room didn’t feel right, I could feel a lot of tension coming towards some of the people dinning in and even the staff. After awhile a group of white young men and woman started to make comments about me in my fiancé in their conversations saying “Why did they let these people in” and something along the lines of “These brownies are taking over everything” or “these brownies are taking over this place”. The comments started to grow louder so to make it known to me and my fiancé that they were talking about us. Eventually they walked over and started taunting us about our drinks and that we shouldn't be here as the staff watched or turned an eye. The white people in that area treat you horribly, I don't think all white folk are like this there, but majority are malevolent and have bad intentions against others with even the slightest change of pigment...
Read moreThe first two times we ate at Study Hall, it was fantastic. I even raved about the tacos to several friends. However, the last two times we went there, we were completely turned off by the service, or lack thereof. Both times we stopped in recently (one time for lunch and one time for dinner) no one would serve us. In the first instance, we sat at a table for 10 minutes with no service, so I walked up to ask the bartender for menus. After standing there for several minutes and continuing to be ignored, we finally walked out. We decided to give them another shot last night, and we were once again disappointed. We walked in, grabbed a table, and were ignored AGAIN. After about 10 minutes, with no one serving us or even attempting to speak to us, we got irritated and left. If you want delicious food and good service, I highly recommend going to Charleston Sports Pub up the street. They even have...
