This place was beyond disappointing. Me and my family wanted to dine here in celebration for mine and my cousins graduation from high school. We made a reservation with the manager that we were told was failed to be relayed and communicated with the staff, but in reality is not our fault. We arrived promptly before our reserved time as a party of 17 and already had space set up. When my cousin arrived, before she had even introduced herself, they asked “is this the party for __?” Then later decided to say that they never knew about a reservation and that we never made one. The server was sweet and patient (I apologise but I don’t know of her name) she was kind and took care of us for our orders. After our entire party ordered we overheard the owner telling the sever to ignore our tables and party. We were annoyed and surprised to hear this from a supposed sweet owner from before. Then after we had been waiting for 45 minutes for just a refill of our drinks another party arrived and were treated immediately. After a whole hour we still didn’t even get refills for our previous drinks. As we are enjoying conversation with family and small talk not at all in the 2 hour duration that we sat in this restaurant were we communicated in the following way “I’m sorry for the wait” “could I get you another drink” “do you need me to update you on the food” we didn’t get any attention from the server because she was told by the owner to ignore us. This place wasn’t just disappointing because of the service but because of how they talked to and treated us. The owner had a rude tone when we were trying to reason with the fact that we did have a reservation. After sitting there for about 2 hours we decided that we were going to leave. Especially because we did not receive our food at all, not even a little bit. After our entire party exited my grandfather decided to stay back and pay for the drinks because the adults did have alcoholic drinks and we also had sodas at our table. With my grandfather my dad was waiting with him to keep an eye on the workers to make sure nothing were to happen. While trying to pay my cousin got into an argument with the owner because she kept calling us liars. While my grandfather payed they charged us for the entire meal that we didn’t even get to see. No food was in sight. We didn’t even get a slice of bread. The bill was over $400 when all we had were drinks. When my Dad noticed the overpricing on the bill they reluctantly “tried” to figure out how to refund us for the food we never even ate. I don’t even think any food was made. They tried to commit financial elderly abuse in hope he didn’t notice the large bill. We have proof that we were falsely charged because we have the full itemised receipt. They then (after “trying” to refund the food but couldn’t) wrote a check for the money owed except for the drinks of course. This was not only a BEYOND astonishing place but also rude and should be out of business. Along with my review my entire family individually are writing ones themselves. I am warning anyone who wants to try this place to just run and don’t go near it. We left and are at this amazing Mexican restaurant that we have only been at for less than 30 minutes and have already been promptly waited on and have our...

We made a reservation for Saturday afternoon at 4:30pm for a high school graduation for my daughter and niece, they ruined the whole celebration. I walked in after my family and quickly went to decorate the tables that is when owner 1 came up and started questioning how many people in the party. I was taken back at the unprofessional greeting. I informed her that I spoke to the manager Neil and he confirmed our reservations for a party of 14. She then responded that he did not have the authority and he had only been with them two days. I then proceeded to ask if she wanted us to leave which she said be patient as they only have one server. We were extremely patient and understanding to the point that we spoke to the server in Portuguese as she was from Brazil and so was part of my family. The audacity of these owners to blame us and tell us we were not being understanding is appalling.

The facts are: We made reservations. We waited two hours without our orders being taken. We ordered drinks and appetizers. We got our beverages and waited. Then the second owner came to our table to share more excuses. I asked for bread in which the owner told me that the server had to heat it up and that she was going to ask her then she came back and told me they had no bread when I saw it in the kitchen. It was all lies, and they purposely did not give us service so that we could walk out and ruined my niece and daughter’s graduation dinner. Instead of staring at us and harassing us at the table maybe the two owners could’ve stepped up the game and gone in the kitchen or serve drinks while the poor server was running around doing everything. In these two hours we never got food while other tabes got food. They told the server to ignore our table and that is why we left after two hours. The facts are they got talking about us and we left after two hours. They committed credit card fraud when they changed my father’s credit card for $400. You have been reported to the Business Bureau. If you keep up the false accusations I will take legal matters. This is your notice.

I would give it zero stars if I could.

We went to Los Reyes and they were very welcoming, will recommend it...

If I could leave a zero 0️⃣ for food I would. I couldn’t tell you because we patiently waited two hours and never got anything, including bread. Then, we complained and the owner said she had now idea about our reservation. She put the blame on a worker, I don’t care who took the reservation, if you couldn't take our group you should have told us from the beginning. The second owner then tells the waitress to focus on the other group who got there after us. They got served and finished their food. When my father went to pay for our drinks because we had enough, they charged my father for the food we never got. Before I left I told the owners that their business practices sucked and before long they will be out of business. This ruined our graduation party.

Oh if you leave a negative review get ready for them to have a quick response on why they were right about everything. They should get shut down because their business practices are not ethical. They need to be investigated especially if you want to eat you have to be a member. What type of establishment is this? I should have known better. Never again. It gives Puerto Ricans a bad name and reputation. Please stay away.

We did not walk out without paying. We had people stay back to take care of the bill. You are too ignorant to run your POS system and you charged us for the alcohol and the food. You tried to charge us for the food we never received. Yes, we asked for bread because that is part of a Puerto Rican meal. I also didn’t care to hear the owners reasoning because it’s not about her. If you are running an establishment you should know it’s always about the customer. Now, we made a reservation and we were able to work with you and your one waitress, but when you tell the waitress to ignore our group and focus on the group that came in after us, that is what I call poor management.

Our group left and found another establishment that took care of right away.

Don’t worry we will never be back and we will let everyone know about your business. You should stop attacking the people that want to spend money in...

This restaurant is new to the area and it shows. We arrived as they were opening the doors and were greeted immediately and warmly. The decor is definitely nostalgic and on point. The service was prompt and courteous. The food, however, was a little disappointing. The appetizer dish of 4 alcapurrias was small, and the alcapurrias lacked meat (ciegas). Good flavor, but they definitely could use improvement. The mofongo with chicken in salsa criolla was good and plentiful. The biggest disappointment was the mofongo with churrasco. I ordered the churrasco medium, and it came out well done instead. I didn't want to point it out to the waitress, but I had to. This dish is not inexpensive. When I mentioned it to her, she said she knew it wasn't my order, but since she "saw it ready and sitting there, she brought it out to me anyway"!!! What? She took it back. The second time around, it was a little better. However, the churrasco comes out sliced, and I wonder how much of the actual piece of churrasco you get. When I order a churrasco, I want to see the entire piece of meat on my plate! Not sliced, ever! On top of all of that, the orders came out separately! The 1st dish she brought was the well-done churrasco for me, but my husband's food was missing. She took back the well-done churrasco and out came my husband's dish! Now I was sitting with no food. I guess she felt badly, so she brought out some garlic bread "on the house," which was good, thank God. Then, finally, my medium churrasco showed up after my husband was done eating. Definitely, more training is needed in both kitchen and service areas. Good luck!

My family has been visiting Guavate and enjoying their food for a very long time, since 2008, when our youngest child started college at UCF. We have never been disappointed! When it came time to choose where my husband and I would go to celebrate our wedding anniversary, Guavate was our 1st and only choice! As a puertorrican native, I have tried many spanish restaurants, including others that focus on the puertorrican cuisine, and can honestly say that they don't come close to what we've experienced and enjoyed at Guavate. The quality of the food, service, atmosphere, the competitive prices and friendliness overall of everyone we've come in contact with are #1. Thank you so much Monica for taking such good care of us. Everything we ate was delicious as usual, fresh and just simply put exquisite and Yummy! I had the mofongo with camarones al ajillo and it was prepared and served to perfection. My husband, who is from Maine, not puertorrican, refuses to go anywhere else for puertorrican food. He had the same thing as I but with arroz con gandules y tostones, my daughter had the carne frita with onions and arroz con gandules, an again another hit. The tostones, yuca, bacalaitos and the amazing flan de coco for dessert left us hungry for more. We continue to go back because any other puertorrican restaurant we've tried, sadly have always been a hit or miss. Even when my mother comes to visit us from Puerto Rico, we have to take her to Guavate, per her request. That is saying a lot considering she is such an amazing cook. Thank you Guavate for making our anniversary dinner a special one! ❤️
