Travelling in support of my beer blog, Great Beer Now, I spend a good deal of my time in airports across the United States. I’m always on the lookout for airport establishments that spotlight local brew and my quest for Ohio beer in the Cleveland- Hopkins Airport led me to Bar Symon.
This airport dining and drinking establishment is located in Concourse C and it has a good deal to offer the individual who is hungry or thirsty. They open very early to serve breakfast and then stay open through the lunch hours and into the early evening hours for dinner. Food options include eggs, omelets, sandwiches, burgers and combos, baked mac and cheese, kielbasa, and other assorted comfort foods. I ordered a burger and onion rings when I was here and left feeling satisfied. My burger was okay overall and a little on the small side, but I loved the onion rings and devoured them with abandon.
Beer, not food, is what convinced me to visit Bar Symon and I liked what I discovered. They serve a large variety of beer for a place this size and I really like how they list Ohio craft beer separately on the menu. This is perfect for someone like me who almost always seeks out locally brewed beer when I travel. With the menu organized so nicely, I didn’t have to pull out my cell phone to figure out which beer was brewed locally or ask the wait staff. It was all listed, right there. Ohio has some amazing beer and I was thrilled with the two glasses I consumed with my food, while waiting for my evening flight.
The atmosphere at Bar Symon focuses on television viewing and people watching. They have several televisions behind the bar, for your viewing pleasure. The interior isn’t that big and it can get crowded, but they have done an effective job arranging the seats so that the space can accommodate a large number of guests. They have an abundance of outlets, too, so you can charge your cell phone or laptop while you dine and drink. Overall, Bar Symon is a cool place for a pre or post flight beer and some comfort food, right here in Concourse C and I recommend it the next time you’re at Cleveland Hopkins Airport.
