It’s often more about the food...otherwise we’d all just cook at home.
This one-start review reflects what happened beyond our meal. Four of the family ate here around 6pm, ordered mostly filet mignon, spent over $100, tipped over 20%. We were completely low maintenance, and the entire dinner was non-eventful. Once we left, we realized upon returning to the hotel I had left my cell phone behind. This is my mistake and I own that. The context here though is we’re all in town to support my girlfriend’s father during his visit to the Cleveland Clinic for a major medical procedure.
My girlfriend nearly immediately called the restaurant to confirm I had left it behind before we returned to pick it up. Whomever she spoke with couldn’t have been less empathetic or rude, and said the phone wasn’t there. After confirming with Lyft it also wasn’t in the car, I knew for sure it was at the restaurant. This time I called the restaurant myself — the level of rudeness I received was incredibly shocking. The guy I spoke with said he was “too busy to check, running food... there was no phone left here at your table...he couldn’t help”. I asked if he’d checked the chair I sat in and he said I “...could come look for myself...”. No problem — on the way.
We were back to the restaurant within 10 minutes. There were a total of 5 people in the restaurant. Both chefs previously cooking in the kitchen were sitting relaxing at the table to the right of where we sat. It wasn’t busy, it was dead our table was empty. I pulled my chair out and my phone was right there. My chair was so close to the restaurant phone, the person who answered would never have had to take a step to look — literally. All they had to do was turn around and pull the chair out.
This ordeal cost us precious time we could have been spending with my girlfriends dad. Yes, I shouldn’t have been forgetful and left the phone behind. They also could have been pleasant about it and helped us locate it with supreme ease.
I, and everyone in my party, will never be back. I have never taken the time to write a review before. And the food was mediocre at best.
Human to human: you guys can do...
Read moreI’m a French girl living in Cleveland and was so excited to try this restaurant out. I called and made reservations for me and my family at 1:30 on New Year’s Eve for a cute lunch. We arrived at 1:15 (a little early) and the hostess said they needed another 15 mins. That was no problem so we went for a walk around the block and came back. When we came back, there was another party of three now waiting. They told us they already gave there name and we told them we also had and chatted with them. They did not have reservations, we did… and after another 25 mins of waiting, the hostess comes out and sits THEM before us? She tells us it would only be a few more minutes. Those few more minutes turned into an hour wait, when I indeed made reservations. So from the start it was already a bad experience but I wanted to try the restaurant so bad that we waited. Once we got seated, it took about 20 mins before anyone asked what we wanted to drink or even just serve us water. The waitress was not personable what so ever and careless about her job by how she treated us. We felt like an inconvenience and not like a guest. Just absolutely terrible service. Once our drinks were ordered, it took about another 20 mins before even getting them. We then ordered our food. My soup came out 10 mins before my boyfriends, it was delicious but when his soup finally came out, THE SOUP WAS COLD. We then got the coquilles saint jaques we ordered, there was nothing special or even traditional about the dish. After another 40 mins, we got served our entrees. My son loved his Nutella crepes. I got a croque monsieur and it was literally toasted egg bread with cold ham and cheese inside. Not at all what a croque monsieur is. My boyfriend got brought bourguignon. His dish was ok. Overall it was a terrible experience and I will never return, nor recommend this...
Read moreWe had 1pm reservations for our daughter’s 26th birthday. It was THE place she wanted to go for brunch. They live down the street and the place is always packed so they have never been. It gets rave reviews on Google so we said why not? We were seated quickly and the people were kind, which may be the only reason I even gave it 2 stars. Menu you was nice, ordered the escargot and formate plate w/ a $5 upgrade to the formage for olive tepenade, putting the formate at $23. First off, it took 1 hour to get our apps. The formage was a regular size dinner plate w 3 types of cheese on it, 2 or 3 pieces of each cheese and the tepenade was literally a very small ramekin full. Think something they serve ketchup in. $23???? We had ordered our brunch entrees maybe 15 minutes after we sat down. It took ANOTHER 60 minutes to get that! 1.5 hours for an entree? It was 2 breakfast sandwiches, 2 egg dishes and a stew! Because of this, we had ordered dessert IMMEDIATELY when our entrees came out since the kitchen was so slow. We finished our Brunch entrees and 20 minutes later, 50 minutes after we had ordered, we’re told by the manager that it’s going to be another 25 to 30 minutes for our two crêpes. These were supposed to have my daughters candles on it for her birthday and at this point we had been there for 2 1/2 hours. It was 330 and we would’ve been eating dessert at four. We said no thanks. It was painful and the food was just OK. We spent $200 for five for brunch. We only had one cocktail and everyone else had water or coffee. My daughter never got to blow out candles for her birthday nor were we able to sing happy birthday. What a letdown for all the hype. The manager didn’t even offer anything. I come from management in the hospitality industry. That is just unacceptable. We will not be back....
