I love the fact that this restaurant accommodates several different types of allergies in addition to special dietary needs like vegan and vegetarian. I like that they tend to carry healthier options and better quality products. However, on my last visit, I was quite disappointed. I saw on the menu that they now carry Elmhurst oat milk and almond milk. I drink only Elmhurst nut milk at my home daily or I make my own nut milk. so I am extremely familiar with how Elmhurst nut milk taste compared to other nut milk that have different additives to them. They have a lovely coffee espresso menu however, the people taking the order and making the coffee drinks have no idea what they're doing. When you're spending five or six dollars For a coffee you expect it to be done correctly the way you ordered it. I wanted a macchiato, but that wasn't on the menu and they didn't really understand what that was. So I ordered an espresso with a tablespoon of Elmhurst almond milk in it. I was very specific. There is an up charge for the Elmhurst nut milk. She said is that like a latte I said absolutely not a latte has almost equal amounts or more milk than coffee. This is literally an espresso with a splash of nut milk. What I received was something a little bit more similar to a cappuccino, and there was no way that Elmhurst nut milk was used in that. It was so apparent to me that I went up to the cash register and said I ordered Elmhurst nut milk in this espresso and the woman said it was that. There is no way it was Elmhurst. All other nut milk product have a very distinct Flavor that takes away from the coffee. Elmhurst does not have that. I know my nut milks. Very disappointing especially for the price point. The other item I ordered was their beef curry, but instead of beef, I had sushi with it. It was a beautiful presentation, and it would've been perfect and extremely delicious. Had there not been so much sodium in it. This was way over salted I could barely taste the food. The sushi was separate from the bowl itself With just sesame seeds, but it had a lot of oils on it. I didn't care for that either. We purchased the spicy cauliflower tacos. They were OK a bit flavorless with a lot of oil. I'm not sure why they're putting so much oil on everything. It came with an Italian dressing which was halfway decent and then some type of like a mayonnaise if that had had Sriracha in it or something to give it some flavor might've been a little better. I still recommend this place for anybody with allergies or trying to eat a special diet of vegan or vegetarian. It has great options and relatively...
Read moreI live right down the street from here, I haven’t been in about a year, order on uber mainly last year. I love their food as a vegetarian with vegan tendencies so many options. The only reason I kept coming back was due to the most amazing server Liv. She’s so bubbly and sweet and love that she connects with her tables. I wonder if she still has the keychain I gave her lol. She’s always 10/10 for me when I visit.
As of today 5/31/25
I was appalled at the portions and a bit disappointed in the service today. It was just my boyfriend and I. The portions were so small. I ordered nachos for the table and it came on a personal platter, my boyfriend got a burger and truffle fries and the burger was so small even he was like “Oo a kids meal” and not seasoned according to him. I wasn’t really hungry but they always have good ciders. Liv wasn’t in today and usually I’ll just leave if she isn’t here(Serving rating was for today, not past experiences). We sat anyways today and our server was nice overall but to be real, she wasn’t as thorough enough. She seemed to be a bit thrown off when my boyfriend ordered a rare burger. I will say when i ordered nachos I asked vegan, I never knew the vegan cheese wasn’t melted so I asked for just regular cheese and even said my bad I didn’t know it was shredded, I watched her go to talk to another worker about it and shaking her head and all that, I’m not 100% sure it was towards me but I know for a fact she asked how to fix it on the toast (a portable pos system) with a like face to it. Not only that my boyfriend says when I was in the bathroom she came back like “ her food will be out for HER” with like an condescending tone. As a former server I didnt appreciate her actions when we order and after I asked to fix MY mistake. When we asked to pay for our check she hands us a paper and checks someone else out on pos system. We were so over it , we paid cash and left. Pretty sure her name was Jen, don’t think she told us her name but it was on our check.
It is safe to say I won’t be returning and if I ever do I’ll keep my rule of not going if Liv isn’t there. We...
Read moreI used to be a huge fan of Townhall, frequently visited and it used to be my favorite restaurant. Not anymore, after my experience on May 30, I will never be back.
We had a big event scheduled for 3:30 am on Saturday, so we wanted to order food ahead of time. I called in and placed our order over the phone. The person on the phone asked if I wanted to pay over the phone or in person when I get there. When given the option, I prefer to not give my credit card over the phone so I opted to pay in person. She said food would be ready in 20 minutes. Perfect.
We got to Townhall to pick up our food and they said they couldn’t put my order in because I didn’t pay yet. I told them I was given the option to pay in person, they said “ya, we don’t do that”. So I asked if anyone had tried calling me, she said my number didn’t work… interesting since I gave my number as well as my rewards account.
I then placed my order in person and paid and asked if they could rush it since we had placed our order over 30 min ago. She said “ok” reluctantly.
20 more minutes pass, I checked in and Rose told me our order had not been placed as carry out so they had to remake it.
15 more minutes pass, they lost our ticket and hadn’t made it yet.
Another 20 minutes and we finally get our food. No offer for a discount or comping our food for inconvenience.
Isabella was who took our order over the phone and was sincerely apologetic and the only one all evening who was helpful by asking, checking in and getting multiple managers.
Rose was sincerely rude, unhelpful and not apologetic for any of it. Paul (manager) came out and was not helpful at all.
After ALL that. My order didn’t even come out right… I ordered something directly off the menu, no modifications.
I’ve worked in food service, stuff happens but no one tried to make it right, or even appreciate that a to-go order that should’ve been ready took more than an hour longer than expected....
