As a visitor to Cleveland, Ohio, I was eager to explore its renowned West Side Market, expecting a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere brimming with local delicacies and cultural experiences. However, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment as I discovered the market's questionable treatment of tourists.

First and foremost, navigating the market as a tourist proved to be a daunting task. Despite its status as a tourist hotspot, the lack of clear signage and information made it challenging to find my way around. Vendors seemed more focused on serving regulars than assisting newcomers, leaving me feeling overlooked and unwelcome.

Moreover, I was taken aback by the exorbitant prices charged to tourists. My friend was charged $32 for some grapes because it was hard to understand what they were saying as they had a very thick accent from what I believe was packistan and I love accents its just hard to understand what people with accents are saying sometimes. we walked around the corner thinking we spent about 12 bucks for a few pounds of grapes which is fine a bit expensive but fine. We then check our account and it says 32.23 for grapes! So within 5 minutes we came back and tried to return them. They said all sales are final. Which they had no signs for that said policy anywhere. While I understand that markets often cater to a diverse clientele with varying budgets, the blatant price discrepancies between locals and tourists were unacceptable. Basic items, such as fruits, vegetables, and souvenirs, were marked up significantly for tourists, leaving a sour taste in my mouth. This exploitative pricing strategy not only tarnished the market's reputation but also soured my overall impression of Cleveland as a tourist-friendly destination.

Adding insult to injury, some vendors exhibited a dismissive attitude towards tourists, further exacerbating the feeling of being unwelcome. Instead of embracing cultural exchange and celebrating diversity, these vendors seemed intent on maximizing profits at the expense of hospitality and goodwill.

In addition to the market's treatment of tourists, the overall cleanliness and hygiene standards left much to be desired. While I expected a bustling market environment, I was unprepared for the sights and smells of unkempt stalls and unsanitary conditions. Maintaining high cleanliness standards is essential for any food-related establishment, especially one as renowned as the West Side Market.

In conclusion, my experience at the West Side Market was marred by disappointment and frustration. Despite its reputation as a cultural hub and culinary gem, the market's treatment of tourists fell short of expectations. From exorbitant pricing and dismissive attitudes to a lack of accessibility and cleanliness issues, the market failed to provide the welcoming and inclusive experience that tourists deserve. As a result, I cannot in good conscience recommend the West Side Market to fellow travelers until significant improvements are made to its policies...

Dear Manager of the West Side Market,

I am writing to express my deep frustration and disappointment regarding an experience I had with the vendor Narrin’s Spices and Sauces during my visit to the market on Saturday, November 23rd. As someone who has been a loyal patron of the West Side Market for my entire life, faithfully visiting every Saturday, this encounter was not only upsetting but also entirely contrary to the sense of community and trust I’ve come to associate with this cherished institution.

During my visit, I was encouraged by others to stop by Narrin’s booth. While waiting for assistance, I asked a question and was met with a response so rude and dismissive that it was shocking. This interaction was unlike anything I’ve experienced at the West Side Market, where vendors typically exhibit warmth and respect for their customers.

Despite the poor attitude, I proceeded to make a purchase. I selected two products: • 1 bottle of Calabrian chili sauce made by Delizie di Calabria • 1 bottle of harissa made by MINA

Neither of these items had prices displayed. When I asked Narrin about the cost, she quoted $29 for the two bottles. Alarm bells immediately went off, as I’m familiar with both products and knew this price was highly inflated. Out of fairness, I quickly checked online to confirm their typical retail prices and discovered that my suspicion was correct—the true combined value of these items is significantly less.

Attempting to negotiate in good faith, I offered $18, which was still well above the fair value of the products. Narrin flatly refused and maintained her inflated price, leaving no room for reasonable discussion. At this point, it became painfully clear that this vendor was attempting to exploit me and likely other unsuspecting patrons by charging outrageous prices for common goods.

This behavior is unacceptable. It undermines the integrity of the West Side Market, which has always been a place where customers can trust vendors to offer fair prices and excellent service. To encounter this kind of price gouging, compounded by rudeness, left me with a bitter impression of a place I have always held dear.

I urge you to take this matter seriously. Vendors like Narrin not only tarnish the reputation of the market but also risk driving away loyal customers who expect honesty and fairness. I hope you will investigate this situation and take appropriate steps to ensure that such exploitative practices have no place at the West Side Market.

Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to hearing about how this issue will...
