My husband and I had a weekend away in Cleveland to visit the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Googled where to eat, and this placed looked perfect. After our RR visit, we walked in (about 1:30pm on a Monday). We were immediately greeted by a very friendly hostess and were very pleased. Unfortunately, that is where the good times ended.
We definetly hit the and of lunch time, there were a handful of tables when we were seated, but they all left and were empty soon after. We were only 1 of 2 tables left in the restaurant.
We ordered 2 cocktails, the House Salsa, and 2 of the taco dishes ( I had Salasa Macha Chicken and he had Al Carbon). The salsa was bland - all I could taste was smoke. Yes, its fire roasted, but there should be other flavors as well. The rice of our dinners was cold and crunchy and stale - like they served yesterdays rice and didnt fully reheat. The chicken texture was mealy, and just really unappetizing.
The service was not much better. There was only 1 server, so was trying to be patient. But our cocktails sat on the bar waiting to be served for 15 minutes...the bartender just stood there talking to another employee while all our ice melted and we were served watered down cocktails that we spent $15 on
We ate very little of the food and when the waitress asked if we wanted to go containers, we said "no thank you" and she rolled her eyes. Even if the food was deliciious we would not have taken to go as we were driving 4 hours home right after. So just very rude to roll your eyes at us.
On the way home, we stopped at the first rest stop and shared a giant pretzel because we were both hungry from not eating any lunch.
This is a great location, good atmosphere, and I feel like they are riding the coattails of the view and thats it.

Read moreI’ve frequented Cleveland a couple times a year for work for the past 3 years now. After discovering Nuevo on my first trip, I’ve made it a point to come back every time I’m in town as I’ve always had a good experience with great food. Unfortunately, today was very different. It started with the host in the front not wanting to sit me inside because it was only myself and offered to either sit me outside or at the bar - mind you it’s raining outside. The host begrudgingly “found” a booth for me. When I entered, I expected to see the restaurant full. To my surprise, the restaurant wasn’t even half full, and I didn’t understand what the issue was with finding me a table or booth inside. I carried on and didn’t let it bother me. Then, I placed my order and while I was waiting for my food, the waitress comes over and asks if that’s all I’m going to get. I was shocked at the way I was asked as if what I ordered wasn’t enough. Again, I carried on. Almost immediately after I got my food, the waitress brought the bill and lays it down on my table, as if to rush me out. At this point, I feel unwelcome. I finished my food and drinks, paid my bill, still tipped 20%, and left. I am very disappointed with the service I received, and quite frankly the lack of diversity in this Mexican restaurant. I am Latino, and for me to feel unwelcome at a place that profits from my culture is disheartening. I’m rating this 2 stars because of my previous experiences, but this experience is a 1 star. I don’t know if it’s because of the political climate we’re in, but this was not the same place I was at just a year ago. If you’re a minority, specifically Latino, I do not recommend this place. At least not for the...
Read moreI can’t thank the staff of Nuevo Modern, especially Jennifer, enough. My husband and I got married there on New Years Eve, 2020. It was very difficult to plan a wedding, but once I connected with Jennifer everything got easier. She was more than willing to accommodate our small pandemic wedding and she went out of her way to make it perfect. Her accommodations and recommendations were on p. She and her staff set everything up for us, as we live in another state, and coordinated with my husband’s mom as well to make sure everything was perfect for us. We had a Christmas-themed wedding, and the upstairs location was beautifully set up for us with a very functional and socially-distanced layout. Despite the pandemic and our wedding plans being different than what we originally had in mind, I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a thing. They provided us with sound equipment, the perfect layout, and all the things that an expert remembers on the day of. I could write another entire paragraph dedicated to their food, it was all five stars or more, but I have to give a mention to the goat cheese guacamole that they have seasonally. Outstanding. Thank you Jennifer, we couldn’t have had our perfect wedding day without you!
I attached a few photos to show how thoughtful the setup was, and another photo of how nice of a spot the balcony is for taking photos! They decorated the space so beautifully - I was the bride and didn't see it beforehand, and it was...
