I had high expectations for The Burger Shoppe at Sauce the City and unfortunately it was a big let down resulting in me not being able to recommend a visit. We came out for Cleveland Burger week as The Burger Shoppe was offering their Classic Steak burger boasting a blend of short rib, brisket, and beef on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. I also ordered a side of fries. I was excited for the first burger of the week. My excitement had to waiting 29 minutes. Yes, there was one person in front of us and we had to wait 29 minutes for two burgers and two orders of fries. What bothered me the most was that two couples came after us and got their food before us. When I asked the young lady working the counter about the status of my food, she glanced at the couple she had just given food to and the look in her eye said that she had given our order away. No words came out of her mouth other than "what was the name?". At this point I had been waiting 15 minutes. While I waited another 14 minutes for our food nothing was ever said to me by any of the staff. I didn't even get a "sorry for the wait". Because of the level of customer service, I deducted two stars. Now on to the food. It was overcooked. The bottom bun was crunchy, the burger was crunchy and the meat lacked juiciness. It was also under seasoned. Just a simple pinch salt and pepper would have helped to bring out the flavors of the burger blend. The fries had a great battered crunch to them, but they were also absent of seasoning. Again just a light sprinkling of salt would have gone a long way. Based on this visit unfortunately I cannot recommend this burger spot for visitors or natives...

I stopped into the Sauce the City today for lunch with a friend since I'm visiting back in town from Phoenix. It was recommended by a bunch of people as a MUST VISIT in Cleveland. Let me tell you, the SAUCE in this spot, did NOT disappoint! To start the location is great! There's a stunning prime view of the downtown skyline straight out of the storefront windows down the looking Detroit-Superior Bridge. The high ceilings and alternating brick walls adorned with colorful artwork create a fresh "trendy" clean-cut urban vibe that make it a versatile spot to throw a party, have night out with friends, or just grab a lunch and hang! The food however was the main selling point. I saw Chef Vick behind the counter creating the work of art that was my Smoked BBQ chicken sandwich and street corn. Living in Phoenix now, street corn has become a staple of my diet, and this is some of the best I've ever had! The sandwich had the perfect balance of sweet and savory with perfectly cooked chicken that had a nice crisp! Check the photos! It was incredible! My friend had the crispy portobello burger (he's a vegetarian) and he was also blown away by the flavor! These sauces are unmatched! I was extra hungry today so I also grabbed a spicy chicken pizza with a ranch drizzle. It had the perfect amount of heat and was cooked to perfection. I brought some home to my mom, who isn't even a fan of spicy food, and she devoured it in minutes and asked where I got it If you're looking for a new entrant in the chicken sandwich wars that blows away the competition.. SPRINT to Sauce the City before...

5/21/22 - 2 Stars:

Kids wanted to order something to go so convinced them to try this place as I was here for lunch about a month ago. However, our experience this time was a bit of a let down

We had a small order, just as a supplement for our dinner at home. While the chicken was cooked well, meal overall missed the mark. The sauce on Dete Chicken Sandwich was very sweet (while I understand that honey bbq is sweet, this one was overly so). Fries were soggy (hence a hint to the restaurant - pack the fries in a separate box from the sandwich so the sauce from the sandwich doesn't sag up the fries). Mexican corn didn't have the 'umpf' like last time I had it, it was very viscid, did not have the crunch you would expect from it.

While my son really loves chicken in genera,, restaurant sure missed the spot on this order and he is not sure if he would come back or order from here again

4/14/22 - 4 Stars:

I read about this place and wanted to try it so stopped by here with the friend.

This is a great example of not judging a book by its cover. The location is at a prime spot but when you step inside this place is really not much. But the food is speaks for itself. The chicken was juicy and moist, very fresh (my honey bbq sauce was a tad sweet but its strictly personal taste), street corn was fabulous. My friend said the same review about his chicken and corn.

Will definitely be back to try more, I know my son would love this spot as he loves...

We went to Sauce the City Food Hall yesterday for dinner. We made it for the four diverse restaurants; Good Food Jane(pizza), Twisted Taino, @saucethecity and @pearlskitchencle Choices, Choices Choices!!! Difficult Choices. We settled on the CLEVELAND HOT CHICKEN SANDWICH W/DRESSED STREET CORN Premium Crispy Chicken tossed in our Cleveland Hot Sauce with 3 levels of spice with extra spicy D'E'TE' Signature Sauce and cooling slaw. Extremely crispy, perfect bun, the right amount of heat with a generous amount of coleslaw. This is a sandwich I would do again, I might ask for lighter coleslaw. my wife a number of times said she wanted to try the sandwich again. We got the platter so it came with street corn and french fries. Both were hits. It wasn’t a contest but sauce the city was our favorite of the two restaurants we tried. pearls kitchen supplied us with the largest portion we had all day. Generous amounts of Cajun pasta that my wife is looking forward to having seconds of today. The secret weapon in my shrimp and grits was The andouille sausage. I kept digging in the grits like I was digging for gold.. The sausage with the cheesiness of the grits and the sweetness of the sauce was a magic. ( btw - the shrimp were spicy and huge ). Sauce the City Food Hall is on our shortlist to go back.
