Must Read before you stay at this Hotel!!! Came to Cleveland for the weekend with the wife. The city is great and itโs definitely not the mistake by the lake. The Hotel was nice and clean. The location is perfect and parking was not an issue. I would recommend not using valet parking as it cost less to park yourself and the tunnel under the road that connects the hotel from the parking garage is easily accessible and not a bad walk. My #1 complaint is that after you buy an expensive room you still end up paying $45 dollars a night to park in the garage. Youโd think they could include that into the stay of the room. The staff wasnโt very helpful and seem to hope that you read what you need to know online and donโt bother them. The lady at the front desk raddled off a bunch of things in a robot fashion and never checked to make sure we actually understood the facilities. What they fail to mention is that once you enter the elevator you have to use your room key on the special swipe device and then select your room floor for the elevator to work. (I believe this is a safety feature and a deterrent to keep people off floors they have no business being on. However if you take the stairs in the fire exits you can come and go onto any floor you like, so I think itโs a false sense of security. Perhaps they need to invest in badge swipers for the emergency stair access.) I felt like an idiot and thought I missed the lobby attendants instructions until I saw another person struggling with the same issue with the elevator. People who stay here know, but I was unaware as a first time guest. I caught on watching someone else do it. Things that should be explained better. You also donโt get breakfast included in your stay. Maybe you do but we made it clear to the waiter that we were guest in the Hotel and he still charged us $50 some dollars for a breakfast we could have gotten at any diner in town cheaper. The rooms donโt have a microwave in them so if you carry food back to the room to eat later it will be cold food FYI. They failed to restock the toilet paper when they cleaned the bathrooms in the morning. And that was after a generous tip to the cleaning staff. The lobby they have food / snacks available- be WARNED! the prices are astronomical. We got two bottles of water some chips, ice cream and some candy and we spend $60 dollars. More than we paid for a sit down breakfast buffet in the Hotel. Perhaps this hotel is geared more to the rich and I donโt meet their ideal customer. Over all not a horrible experience. The views from our room overlooking the lake and surrounding buildings were beautiful. The rooms are quiet and we almost never heard anyone around us. The bed was comfortable and the tv works great. The shower and bathroom clean and stocked with everything you need (except toilet paper). Plenty of storage or room for people traveling for business. Nice desk with nice chairs. Lots of different lamp options in the room which I very much liked for different times of the day. We never went to the pool or used the gym so I canโt speak to that. Over all again a very enjoyable experience but definitely some areas they could improve. I hope this helps the next person...
ย ย ย Read moreWow! What an incredible stay my family and I had!
The hotel is spacious and spotless, with friendly staff. There is a small convenience store, called the Noshery, in the lobby. Here, you can get snacks, sandwiches or small pasta bowls. There is a microwave that you can use to heat up the pasta.
The location of the hotel is great, within walking distance to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Progressive Field (baseball) and across the street from the Cleveland Browns Stadium (football).
The pool was a bit on the small side but the water was warm. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were really thick (I would sleep with just one pillow). I would have liked to have a clock on the bedside table, but I guess hotels are not using clocks since people have cell phones. The size of the pool and no clocks are just minor issues, so I'm not taking any stars away.
The hotel was very busy during our stay, with various conferences going on. Despite it being busy and our room being on a high floor, we only had to wait for the elevator one time (there are 6 elevators).
One night, we ate at the restaurant (The Burnham) for dinner. I had the gnocchi, which was creamy and delicious. We ate at The Burnham every day for breakfast. The avocado toast with the poached eggs are a MUST! Valerie and Mercedes were pleasant, friendly hostesses, and Tenillya was a wonderful server. All three ladies were so cheerful every morning and greeted us with big, welcoming smiles.
Dennis at Eliot's Bar was nice, and we had a few conversations with him. Ahmed at valet parking was also very pleasant and helpful. Actually, all the front desk staff were wonderful, but I forgot to take down their names.
A special mention goes to Bell Captain, John Smith! When we first arrived, he helped us bring our bags to our room and answered our questions about Cleveland. When my family and I walked back from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the heat wave, John saw how hot we were, and he had us sit in the lobby and brought us cold water bottles. On our last day, he helped bring our bags down to our car. John is definitely a gem who can go really far with Hilton. He has the personality and the work ethic to do so.
Thank you, Hilton staff, for making us feel like family during our six night stay! We will definitely stay at this hotel again the next time we are...
ย ย ย Read moreIt was okay. This hotel is in a great location and overall very nice. However, there are some things lacking, primarily associated with the staff. I am realistic to know that it is difficult to get and keep good staff these days, and a huge hotel like this requires a lot of staff and management. Regardless, as a guest I expect a certain level of service. I was treated very rudely upon check in and made to feel like I was a big hassle and a bother. The front desk person was very condescending to me. I am a diamond member with Hilton. I was not treated like one, was never acknowledged as one, and just kind of shooed away. Throughout my stay, I was given a lot of incorrect information. I was told two times that the outside restaurant was closed when in fact it was not. The first time was for dinner. I went ahead and checked on my own just to be sure and of course they were open. The next was for breakfast. I was told they were not open on Monday mornings. I expressed disbelief about this but it was told yep that's the way it is. Again, I went down and checked myself and they were open of course and expressed disbelief themselves that the front desk will tell me that. I was very surprised by all this, because I will say, when calling to ask some questions and make the reservation I was treated very nicely and comfortably by two associates named Megan and Chloe. I never cross paths with them when I was actually there, but I wish I had. The room itself was nice and clean enough. It had a great view overlooking lake. First energy stadium, etc. Again, this property is in a great location. We never ate dinner in the restaurant as the menu was very limited and the prices were extremely high. We did eat breakfast, as I spoke of earlier, and it was extremely pricey as well at 25 per. I will say it was very good, and the diamond benefit of a 15 credit for up to two adults took 30 off which made it not so bad. Not near as good as the way Hilton used to do it where he just got a free breakfast, but it is what it is. Without this credit though, with tax and tip would have been over $60. Pretty ridiculous. But that is usually the case with a nice hotel in...
