One of the best museums / sites I have for a long time been to!

I read about people visiting Cleveland "only" for visiting this museum and was sceptical in the beginning why one would do that. But now I can truly understand it! The museum takes you back in time by making all the different areas and rooms enjoyable for a visit. For 12$ you get loads of interesting and enjoyable facts and information from the very attentive and knowledgeable staff (they were my highlight - thanks a lot!). You can even sometimes look into drawers and closets, see a lot of original gadgets, items and loads of technical instruments on the bridge and engine room (especially impressive). I probably took 100s of photos!

Together with the guides' explanations, it was a truly enriching and...

The SS William G. Mather is a unique experience located north of the Great Lakes Science Center. The science center runs the ship, which is open during spring and summer. You can purchase a joint ticket for both the science center and ship, or just board at the forward gangway and purchase a ticket at the box office located inside the cargo hold. Self guided tours will take you throughout the ship, including seeing where William G. Mather's personal quarters were located on the Cleveland Cliff's flagship. From the cargo hold to the pilot house to the engine room, and more; take a tour to explore the history of one of North Coast Harbors iconic...

Visit to the Steamship William G. Mather Museum. ⚓️🚢🧭 Admission was included with Great Lakes Science Center membership. Otherwise it is $10.95 (adult) $8.95 (child) as of 7/2023. Museum was unique. Well-preserved state rooms and crew quarters show what it was like to be passenger and crew member on this ship. Attendants were very friendly and able to answer questions. History, transportation, logistics and boat enthusiasts will enjoy this museum! Visit date- 6/3/23 NOTE- Check ahead that the museum is open- seasonal and holiday dates...

If you are attending the science center the tickets are half priced, this is a must do for anyone into history, boats, ships, and historical architecture. I was in love with all of the old wood, brass details, and 1920s architecture. This is definitely something for able-bodied people only, lots of steep ship stairs, and cramped quarters. All of the employees were wonderful, and excited to teach about the ship and its inner workings. This is an absolute gem, and perfect for all ages!
