Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Clovis

It was a normal Saturday afternoon, about 2 p.m. I usually don't eat at Applebee's because of the high price and service.

On entering, I was greeted immediately by a nice hostess and was seated near the bar. It was a slow afternoon, and wasn't too busy in the restaurant.

Our waitress came out and took our drink order quickly. I ordered the artichoke dip for my friend, and the waitress seemed unsure if they had it or not. I could tell she was new, but I've worked in food service before and I gave her my patience.

We got our drinks, and our waitress seemed to forget about us after that point. A different waitress brought out our appetizer. I saw our main waitress hiding behind a register staring off into the distance, and hoped it was just a bad start. She finally came over and took our entree order 15 minutes later. I also asked for a refill and again disappeared.

Another 15 minutes go by, and our table goes unchecked. I don't get a refill, and our waitress is still standing around. My friend at this point needed a refill as well. We put our empty drinks at the edge of the table to make them as visible as possible. We weren't trying to be rude and needy, but at this point it was so slow and the staff was standing around. I couldn't believe it.

Our food arrives again by another waitress. I had to ask her for the refills. The steak was decent--overcooked but seasoned well. The fries were so stale and unedible. Not great for 20 dollars. The main waitress came back and dropped them off, didn't say a word. A few minutes later, a man came in and was seated near our section. At this point, we wanted to warn him to get out of there while he still could. He was seated and no one came to take his order for at least 20 minutes. At this point, I uses the kiosk thing to call a waitress. A different waitress arrived a few minutes later, and I informed her of the gentleman not having anyone take his order, and a refill for me.

I never leave negative reviews but this was probably the worst service I have ever seen for how not busy it was. I was never rude or complained to the staff. I know the main waitress was new, but the other staff should have checked to make sure her diners weren't miserable like us.

TLDR; extremely overpriced, half unedible food. Worst service ever...

Every time I have came here I have had horrible service! The last two times, they forgot my order out of the group, then the second time I ordered egg rolls and got a quesadilla instead. Then when I told the waitress this isn't what I ordered, she told me it was what I ordered. Then later told me that the quesadilla was an egg roll, but made a different way to look that way. Well my service this time, I ordered the all brunch burger with hash browns and egg on it. I told the waitress I didn't want ketchup on my burger, but when my burger came out it had it on it. I told the waitress, and she just said sorry and rolled her eyes at me and walked off. Instead of saying, I'm sorry they messed up your order, can I see if I can get you a bottom bun without ketchup?, she just rolled her eyes and walked off. My wife orders a Reds Apple Ale beer, they bring out everyone's drink but hers. We ask about it, and the bar tender, she tells us that they don't serve that no more. It's on the menu, but can't be ordered. So they ask my wife if she would like anything else, and she said no. Then the bar tender gives her a dirty look and walks off. Not to forget when we sat down and they gave out the menus our waitress throws a menu at my mother. So I eat my burger without the bottom bun. Afterwards I ask for the check, and manager comes by and tells me sorry for what happened and gave me half off my burger since it was made wrong. He asked me if I wanted another made the way I wanted it for free, I tell him no. I just wanna pay and go. I don't want anything free. After the manager leaves, the waitress come back and I pay the ticket and we start to leave. She came back and saw there was no tip and looked mad. Screw that I'm not gonna tip for horrible service that I have got every time I have ate here all but once. It was nice of the manager to give me a discount on the burger for being made wrong. All that said, I get it, mistakes happen. It might just be a mess up of the cook being in a hurry trying to keep up with everyone's orders, that perfectly fine. However, the waitress rolling her eyes at my and bar tender giving my wife a dirty look and throwing the menu at my mother. Screw that. I will never eat here at this Applebees in Clovis...

I was alone and came to eat a late dinner. Rebecca was the server...I had my I'd's ..on the table already meaning state license and military id. ) I am over 50 yrs old. She looked at them said great then ordered at the bar I was in a booth. She came back said oh can I see the name one more time.. what??? Excuse me i say.. she walks away with no answer. Then the manager came asked for my id again then walks away speaking to the herd of servers standing by the back register saying I guess so. . I look directly at these people since there was no one but me in the whole section as you come thru the door. . I shrugged my shoulders at them, implying 'hey whats going on.. then the overweight big hair brunette says.. well I guess she got offended..I get up and pick up my purse to go then rebecca swishes behind me and says oh don't you want to wait for your drink? I said no thank you I do not any thing from here. The funny thing about a small town..everybody's kids have worked at one of these restaurants a time or two. My daughter worked here a couple years ago and was literally hazed out of the job. She called me once in tears because the cook and let me say again the 'cook' had screamed at her so much she couldn't handle it any more. This is a decent franchise that has been demoralized by the management they agree to have run the place. Let me ask another thing? Does anyone's children look a little like their parents? If by chance Applebees ever employed your children get ready for bad services and rudeness your face. After getting to my vehicle I grab my handicap placard and tap on the window to the rebecca server when she looks I put it on the window along with my husband's disabled veterans placard and say you should be ashamed of yourselfs.
