It is quite unfortunate I have to write this review. On the night of Jan. 7th, my party and I were celebrating a birthday party for my sister-n-law. Upon closing out my tab, the male bartender had lost my credit card as I see him looking for it. The bartender asks me if he gave me back my card by any chance and I say no. Knowing that my party is still inside the premises, I step outside to cancel my credit card. My fiancé then notified me that the bartender had asked her or myself to sign the payment receipt. I told my fiancé that the bartender will need to supply an itemized receipt so I know what I am being charged for. As I am trying to cancel my card outside, I see that the rest of my party walk outside the building with the bartender and manager. I then continue the process to cancel my card when I only hear the bartender arguing loudly with my brother. I then completed the cancellation of my card and went to defuse the situation. I explained to the bartender and manager that it is not my responsibility for the bartender to hand me back my card that I trusted the restaurant with. I told the bartender that I will only sign an itemized receipt to ensure that I am not being charged for something that I did not pay for. I then expressed my displeasure that the bartender and manager were both arguing outside while I am on the phone, loud enough for me to hear them about 20 feet away. The bartender was very clearly showing physical frustration and the manager then accused me of intentionally escalating the situation in which I responded that they did not have the best customer service in this situation. The manager then started saying “I am not gonna *ing deal with this, nor am I gonna get *ing talked to like this.” The manager and bartender then went back inside the building. I then proceeded to leave with my party to avoid any further escalation.
At the time of writing this review, I still have not received word about my card or any apology for the employees losing my card. There are many things that could have been avoided and the bartender and manager’s handle of this situation is something I hope is not a normal occurrence with the rest of...
Read moreSo it’s been a couple years since I’ve visited, the last being in 2019. I feel the quality of both the food and service has gone drastically.
I stopped in today as one of the first places I’ve been out of the house since a surgical procedure on 7/29. The service was okay.. we did not get the kids drink we ordered and paid for.
I had ordered the Shrimp Diabla. I’ve had the dish before at other Mexican restaurants, the best in the area, in my opinion, has been at El Tarasco in Hanford. The dish at Bobby Salazar’s was so disappointing. The shrimp tasted old, as if it had been thawed out and cooked after being freezer burned. I ate two myself and shared one with my sister who agreed and spoke to the server.
The server was adamant the shrimp was fresh, but there was nooo way. They offered to take $10 off but I feel that was still unfair considering I ate nothing on the plate but two small shrimp.
The iced water served with lunch also tasted poorly. Like it was dirty. I was just super disappointed that I spent $48 on a meal that was not at all enjoyable. One of my sisters did have a blueberry margarita which was tasty. Another sister has the taquitos plate. These also tasted as if they had been frozen and heated in the microwave prior to...
Read moreI visited around 4p during happy hour which is between 3-7p Mon-Fri. I had read in prior Google restaurant reviews that Bobby Salazar's margaritas were pretty good. When I told the waiter that as I sat down, he suggested the "Cadillac Margarita" ($6.75), which I found out later was not on the Happy Hour Specials! menu when I got around to reading it. But I figured the "Well Margarita" wasn't going to be "top-of-the-line and Salazar's "Top Shelf" margarita uses a Sauza Conmemorativo Tequila, two other ingredients and a Float of Grand Marinier. Delicious. The chips-and-salsa salsa was generously spicy: not too hot or worse--bland. I ordered off the regular menu from Bobby's Favorites: the James Special ($9.99), which was rice with spicy chile con carne topped with melted cheese. The corn tortillas which I prefer came wrapped in aluminum foil--an attention-to-detail-touch to keep them hot until you eat them! Wait staff was polite and competent. It was quiet, not too many people but the place started to fill up as I left around 5p. The restaurant looked clean and the overall vibes of the establishment was very positive. Nice place for dinner if you happen upon Clovis, CA (I live near...
