RareTea — Restaurant in Clovis

I wanted to like this place. My daughter raves about this place and goes here almost once a week. I finally make it here and I’m hoping they have taro milk tea and they did. I order what I wanted and asked for 75% sweetened and light ice. The girl at the counter asked me if I wanted boba, I said yes. I was on the phone FaceTiming with my fiancé’ who heard me say yes to boba. When my order was placed on the counter I noticed first hand that they mistakenly put in the lychee jelly. I told them right away and without hesitation they said that what I ordered. No, I mentioned. So they then took it back and since I trusted that they would start over with my order, I waited patiently. After they fixed my order, I left immediately, got in my car, took a sip and right away there was the taste from the lychee jelly still in my drink. I’m thinking they just took out the jelly and replaced it with boba. How cheap!!! The syrup from the lychee is very distinct. Hope it was worth it for them because they lost a customer. Advice to owners, don’t do this to people especially someone who’s Asian and probably knows...

My husband and I have heard about all of the new bubble tea shops in town. Since we were in town, we went and visited so many different shops all in one day for the fun of it. We checked out this place. The environment was nice, service was super friendly, but the drinks were mediocre. Their fruit teas or flavor teas were a little overpowering on the tea part. We ordered their strawberry snow, mango/passionfruit tea, and brown sugar/caramel. The Strawberry snow was good but it wasn’t as sweet as we thought it would be. We couldn’t taste the mango nor the passionfruit for the fruit tea and the brown sugar/caramel drink tasted like regular milk. However, the cheese foam was good. The bobas were not as chewy and it didn’t have any flavor. Every bubble tea shop is different. We don’t live here and this one was not our favorite compared to all of the other ones...

Just found out about this place from my aunt. Their Okinawa Milk Tea and Taro Milk Tea are definitely delicious. Last time I tried I didn’t taste that powdery after taste. A powdery after taste is an indication of not mixing well or the ratio of liquid to powder is not correct. I didn’t taste it last time or this time. The boba is cooked just right with just a hint of sweetness.

Will definitely be going back if I’m around...
