First time here and before ordering, we were astonished by how many items they have as well as the amount of different veg dishes. We got the Lamb Nawabi, lamb samosa, garlic naan and the chicken biriani. I think the nawabi and biriani was a good dish to get together. What really blew my mind was the Lamb samosa, the sauce was perfect for it and it was very crispy on the outside.
I really love the food here and I'm planning on giving this place another try but the service here seems off. I'm not sure if it was just my luck but our server took a long time to give us our drinks. Our food came out at a timely manner, so we didn't mind.
At first she gave us water with no ice (she didn't ask if we wanted ice or not). I asked for soda but it seems like she forgot our drink that we ordered. We had to use the call button to reminder her to bring us our soda. She did not refill our drinks at all. Even when she came by with our food, our drinks were empty but she didn't refill it or anything. At first we thought she was going back to get our drinks after we got our food but we waited for a while and didnt see her come by so we had to use the call button. Even then, it took her some time to bring us 1 soda when we ordered 2 during the time we ordered our food. So she had to go back and get us another one. Of course, there were no refills because she didnt come check up on us and by the time we needed another refill on our soda, we were basically done eatting. I was planning on ordering more samosa ecause it was really good but when we used the call button, there were no answer for a long time so we gave up and use the pay button instead but even then we waited awhile for her to come so we can ask for the check. And then more waiting for the check. She didn't really talk much but we tried to smile and be a friendly customer by thanking her every time she came by. So I don't know why our server was not good. She did apologize for her mistake and told us that she would not charge us for the soda but I would think after that mistake, we would see her around more for refills or at least come by to check if we need anything or at least as us if the fold was good. But we didnt see her again until we used the call button a couple of time for the check.
I checked on Google and saw that people said she (Balreen) was very welcoming and friendly but we sadly did NOT get the same treatment. I hope that maybe next time when we come back, the service will be better and hopefully it is just our luck because the food there was very good and we are pretty impressed with all the new things we see on the menu. Over all, the experience is 3/5 mainly due to the service. We are NOT asking for all smiles, happy attitude and long talks from the servers, but just some more refills and more checking up on the...
Read moreHaving been in the restaurant industry for 20 years (1992-2012) having worked all positions this is a honest review believe that. Food 9/10 Interior 10/10 Service 7/10. In summary this is a exceptional restaurant with a very unique taste. I have never gotten sick from their food & that's a plus. Only slight blemish is the service from the serving staff could use some improvement. They're extremely friendly but because they have never worked in a restaurant outside of gulab they haven't experienced different formulas from different business owners producing a all around adaptable & efficient server. They move at a normal pace with no sense of urgency and they only carry out one or two plates at a time. They should be carrying two to three plates at a time so they don't have to make so many trips back n forth to the table this is what I learned working at Olive garden, Out Back Applebee's and the Lime Light but because these employees have never experienced a different restaurant atmosphere they wouldn't know this so you can't blame them they're doing the best they can with what they know. I also noticed they are not utilizing teamwork. What I mean by this is when someone else's food is sitting in the window ready to be taken to a table another server will not do it they will leave it up to the original server to bring the food out even if that server is currently occupied with another table so then the food loses some of its heat this is unacceptable in most restaurant settings. This isn't common at this location but it does happen occasionally from time to time however I would still recommend because if you do have an issue with your food they will gladly replace it with no hassle 👍. The owner is very friendly gentleman and a...
Read moreWhat really was a very bad point in my opinion was the fact that rice and bread do not come with your entre. You must order them separately. We were a party of three, and if course we all wanted rice with our dinner. Without the rice, the meals would be more like a soup because of all of the sauce. In deed, we would have had to eat the meal with a spoon. To make matters worse, their rice option is meant for two people. There were three of us. They have no option for a single serving of rice. We all ordered the bread, and we're charged around $5 each. So, the bread, or naan, came in a small basket which cost us $15. When you add in the extra charge for rice and the extra charge for naan, a reasonably priced meal in the neighborhood of $20 each became more like $30 each.
The food was tasty and you can order different levels of spicy. Mine was pretty good, but I would have expected more chicken than the few pieces I received. My biggest gripe is paying extra for bread and rice. This is the first time in my 67 years of life that a restaurant made me pay for bread when buying a mid-priced meal at a sit down restaurant. This was also the first time I have ever been charged extra for rice at an Indian restaurant. Every Indian, Chinese and Japanese restaurant I have ever been to, rice is ALWAYS included with your meal. I will add that we travel a lot and eat at restaurants all...
