First time take out from Indian Ocean, which was a rare find among all of the other Indian restaurants in the York Road corridor. Overall I think Indian Ocean was a great value for the flavors and wide selection of options. I am looking forward to trying their buffet and visiting the dining room. Thank you for offering an exciting menu IO!! 🙏
Sampled several menu items to my delight:
Scallop Tikka Masala - mini scallops were not what I was expecting, they were okay but I would not get this again. Kinda chewy and at $30 it was sad. The sauce flavor was amazing. Will try paneer, chicken or shrimp Tikka masala next time for sure. Gobi Manchurian - breading was perfect and very light, cauliflower was amazing, just did not care for the sauce flavor. Would not get it again. Lamb Pasanda - tenderness of the lamb and flavor of sauce were amazing. Excellent - highly recommend for lamb fans Avacado Salad - wow - perfect in every way, highly recommend Veggie Samosa - I thought they were perfect in every way, breading and stuffing on point - yummy - highly recommend Avacado Banana Chat - I've never seen this on any indian menu - loved this, delicious! You have got to try this Malia Kofta - happily surprised it was amazing and they did this as balls with fruit and crunchy nuts with the best sauce. Totally loved it and highly recommend Assorted Bread Basket - it was okay. Roti, naan and garlic naan was so-so, nothing special. It was a...
Read moreIn a relatively bustling shopping center that holds the local Amish market (which is generally fantastic) holds what is probably the best Indian restaurant for a 20 mile radius and one of the only legitimately good ethnic restaurants in the area (there’s no even decent Thai in the area, the Chinese food is mediocre, the sushi offerings are underwhelming suburban trash overall and the Mexican has some decent spots but nothing outstanding to just name a few types). Indian Ocean is a complete standout for legitimately delicious high quality Indian food and some of the best I’ve had in Maryland. I’ve gotten both takeout and the buffet multiple times and the food is always fresh. I’ve seen some complaints that the food could be more seasoned or spicy on the buffet. I didn’t find that to be the case at all. In fact that can always be adjusted to add more to taste. If it’s too spicy for some it becomes difficult to eat. As is it’s pretty perfect. Service is fast friendly and attentive. Prices are extremely reasonable. While other places have really aggressively raised prices far outstripping their relative quality, Indian Ocean provides first rate food and service at competitive and fair value. Highest...
Read moreWasted 60$ for so called buffet. highest cost,19.9$ comparing near by restaurant. Looking at reviews, i took decision to go assuming i get good food that may worth money. But, i will give 4.99$ if you ask me.. that too for table cloth cleaning staff.
6-8 curries(most of them are sweet or Nepali style. you need to manage with sweet fried rice or sweet chicken Manchuria. I got fried biryani rice. :) looks weird right. yes, i asked if any biryani available. he got me that. not cooked and frozen raw chicken pieces. Gulam Jamun or rice pudi again sweet. i asked if any drinks for kids in buffet. asnwer is hot tea, so you need to buy soda tin but it is 4$+tax. only thing we were able to eat is pani puri few peices. 57$. I would have bought pani puri balls for 5$ with 60peices from indian store and eat at home for 2 weeks. fruits are kept in water melon trash and they were smelling. looks like stock.
Overall - Money waste.
Go there if you want to eat some sweet food...
