I travel to Hunt Valley every other month and know everyone from work prefers to stay here - I've never been able to successfully book here until this last week (always full) and I see why - it really was a wonderful stay.
It is always nice when a hotel is new and this property is new; beyond that the rooms are setup like little mini-apartments with kitchens/stoves/full fridges/utensils/cups/plates/etc. with a small "living room" then bedroom and bathroom. Overall provides for a very comfortable stay.
Hot breakfast is served and is much more than just heated up egg beaters; this is a full/real hot breakfast with slight changes daily like Canadian bacon, sautéed potatoes, waffle bar, oatmeal bar, yogurt with muesli, etc.
I had one incident when I woke up at midnight to the person next door screaming at the top of their lungs and kicking their furniture around their room - I decided to give them 30mins to calm down before I reported it (I figured anyone that is OK doing that is probably a psycho... and right next door to me... so I'd err on the side of not being murdered before reporting it) -- fortunately they calmed down by 1am.
The next morning I asked the front desk attendant (Tyler) if I could move rooms IF that person was staying another night, but they were checking out that morning so I didn't move.
Later that day I had a hand-written letter from Tyler (with two 'executive item' coupons from the gift shop) apologizing in addition to a voice mail left by the hotel manager apologizing for the inconvenience. There was no need for them to apologize at all (wasn't their fault) but I really appreciated the gesture and told them so.
Really had the impression the entire time I was here that this management group goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable. I was there for almost a week and it really was an excellent...
Read moreThe front of house staff is well trained and very knowledgeable of the area's restaurants, shopping, events, and attractions. Ryan, Georgia, Kristine, and Peter make you feel welcome with a smile and friendly hello when returning from a tough day at work. Housekeeping and Maintenance are almost invisible while they go about the daily tasks, but the property from the rooms to the common areas are always neat and in good repair. Mitch in catering makes you feel right at home. She always checks to make sure everything meets the guest satisfaction whether it is in catering or another area. The staff displays a real family atmosphere, which I have come to expect when I stay at Marriott properties. I mentioned to John in Engineering that I was disappointed I did not have the ESPN 2 channel to watch the US Open Tennis Tournament. I hardly explained my dilemma and he was off to reset the system. Others that add to making a long term stay more pleasant are Tracy, Anna Maria, Jonathan, and AGM Ryan.
I like the layout of the king studio. The areas are separated by enough space to tell you have a real kitchen. The work space is convenient and out of the way of the lounging area as are the sleeping and bathroom areas. The only thing I miss is an oven. I am an open water boater and have learned how to be a really creative when cooking with limited tools but the oven would make the studio over the top. Short of an oven if during the upcoming renovations, consideration could be given to a microwave/ convection oven similar to the Cuisinart unit I have on my boat would make it perfect for me.
I have three more months to go on this assignment and I will be back in January 2016 for another project that will last for seven or eight months. Yes my address will be the Residence Inn in Hunt Valley, Maryland...
Read moreUPDATE: as I can not seem to respond to the owners comment, I will respond here. It was just recently that google asked for a review. Our stay was from the 5th to the 8th of April. So maybe you have remodeled since I was there. If it was before then I would say your house keepers are not doing their job very well, because the bathroom was filthy. JMO. I am sure if you can go back to that time on your cameras you WOULD see a man in a t shirt behind the front desk. I believe it was on Friday or Saturday. or both. I know I seen him a couple times during our stay. And thanks for being so persistent that I am wrong and you are right. A good place may have asked for information as to when we stayed or for contact information to verify the stay was there. You instead INSIST that we didn't stay there, when we did. Obviously you have no desire to fix the problems, just defend yourself.
Initial review: From the initial look it was nice. But after check in we started to see the issues. We ended up in a very dated room. The bathroom was not appeasing at all. The first morning the breakfast was great. The next 2 mornings sucked. We chose to go to burger King the next 2 mornings. The place in general was not clean. The stainless steel elevator doors were so oily/dirty that I wrote clean me on them when going to breakfast the second day because I was sick of looking at them for 2 days. They did it a few hours later I guess. The staff were dressed half ass. You couldn't really tell who worked there and who didn't. One of the desk clerks wore a heavy rock or something t shirt. I love rock and roll. But there is an image to uphold when working the front desk. And that was not it. All in all it was not my favorite stay. Some may think I was picky. Fact is we paid a lot of money for...
