Taqueria El Tesoro — Restaurant in Cocoa

We had a late lunch, around 1:30. Restaurant had about 10 customers and was clean and spacious. Server (maybe owner) Santiago, was very friendly and helpful. Tried 3 street tacos; rice and beans; chips and salsa; and, Mojarra. The Mojarra (deep fried Talapia) is made picante so let your comfort level be know when ordering or ask that it be made with garlic. Tacos are served with onions, cilantro, and radish on fresh corn tortillas. The salsa was fresh and the chips were warm and crisp and tasty. We sampled some of the more spicy salsa with the chips and also had some of the salsa verde: a must try). Reasonably priced and the cold beer very reasonably priced compared to other similar restaurants (Modelo Especial at this writing was $3.50). Soft drinks available as well. Clean restrooms. We went with friends to El Tesoro for dinner tonight. We were impressed at the decor and we were seated immediately. They don't have happy hour specials yet, but said they are coming. The salsa was delicious, but very spicy....so be careful if that's not your thing. We loved it. The tableside guacamole was outstanding, and not a bad price at all at $12. It was very large, and shared by four people with plenty leftover. Everyone at our table enjoyed their dinners, and the food seemed to be a notch above a typical Mexican restaurant. I drove past this place everyday for the last year and a half and never noticed it. Someone told me about this place and I said I’m going to give it a try and 5/5 from the moment you walk in, feels so homey, nice and clean. Hispanic music playing, nice drawings on the walls, friendly service! For starters I ordered chips and queso, the queso is nice and warm and you also get a salsa. I ordered two steak tacos and one chicken and a burrito bowl and when I say I ate it all, I mean I ate it all!
