Box'd Kitchen — Restaurant in College Park

Jino is the real gem of Box'd Kitchen, then the food--so good, way better than Mezeh. I just left Box'd after getting off from work late at midnight. I'm not a college student but own a home in College Park. The usual fare consists of McD's and Taco Bell at this hour, that primarily exist for the hordes of inebriated academics that travel in hordes on Thursday nights in search of more empty calories.

The neon sign to Box'd caught my eye, it looked closed but after I Googled it, I saw that they're open til 3am tonight and midnight most other nights. The inside has plenty of seating and really cool granite counters.

An employee was assisting me with my order and I sat down to wait. I had ordered a falafel box, not because I'm a vegetarian, I just had a taste for them. That's when Jino came out. Very charismatic and friendly owner. He introduced himself to me and we struck up a conversation. He just went the extra mile in a time where we lack more personable, genuine, human connection with the businesses we frequent. He didn't just feed me well, but he fed my soul with good conversation, banter and laughs after a long rough day. I'm definitely coming back -- because A. the falafel , rice, and chicken I had were very good. I really enjoyed the falafel and B. because I want to try the other menu options and C. hopefully spitball with Jino again. It is a shame because I met the owner and had several positive experiences but the last few times I've been the service has been really poor. Today I called and ordered 25 minutes ahead of time and when I came I was told that my order was not received and that it would be easier for me to use an app like doordash. I understand that it is easier to receive orders from apps but it was funny and shocking to hear the employee tell what would be easier for me to do. Especially after making a mistake without taking any responsibility. On top of this he messed up my order, remembered the mistake when he handed me the food, and told me that it would be fine. Lastly and worst of all I had some completely raw lamb in my meal. I hadn't been rude to the employee other than looking annoyed throughout the process so I'm not sure why I got pieces of completely uncooked food next to food that was fully cooked. First time visiting this location and I’m glad I did. From walking inside and having great customer service, to meeting the owner and finding out there are multiple locations. This place was delicious! The flavor you actually get from the food and not just the chicken. (Which is made on the spot and not just being scooped from a hot plate) REALLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE! The rice, the yogurt, and the hot sauce were all flavorful on its own. Oh, can’t forget about the pita bread too ! Very organized and clean as well which is always a bonus to see.
