Table for 2 for lunch
Approaching the restaurant and looking at the outside, it looked very unimpressive and generic. I quickly found a spot in the huge shared parking lot. It looked like a few of the surrounding stores were shut down and abandoned. I waited for my friend to arrive, because he had been here before. He arrived and we entered. He advised that the indoor dining room was to the left and I could see they also had a counter, to the right, where you could place a takeout order. We seated ourselves in the dining room, which was pretty empty. The interior decor pretty much matched the outside look, very understated. Our server quickly came by to take our drink orders. I ordered a ginger beer. Then we quickly decided on our entrees. My friend ordered the boneless jerk chicken meal and I ordered the Curry Chicken Roti. I asked if the Roti was big enough for a full meal because I was also contemplating ordering the Curry Chicken meal. Our server explained it should be good enough portion. The food came out pretty quickly and my Roti was huge, more than enough for lunch. I started to dig in and It was “on point”. It was very tasty and seasoned well. My friend commented that his Jerk Chicken meal was also very very good. We were eating and chatting it up in the dining room and our server Santee continued to check on us to make sure everything was going well. He was very attentive throughout our visit and we were not being rushed out of the dining room. Overall, a good experience and I would return to try some other things on the menu. A couple side notes, when I left I had an oily taste in my mouth for a little bit. On a good note, when I heated up my Roti two days later, and it was...
Read moreService was beyond terrible. I waited 20 minutes to even be acknowledged, 20 more for a menu and silverware (and not even asked what I wanted to drink). Finally, 20 minutes later, my order was taken. The food wasn't terrible, but I was never asked if I needed anything else or if everything was alright and I really wanted to change the rice and beans for something else because the rice was undercooked... Also, I ordered a large oxtail dinner and was given a very small portion with hardly any meat. I finally was asked if I wanted a to go box, long after I was finished eating. My waitress seemed to have a problem with me even after I was polite to her through all of that, and I'm just going to go ahead and pull the race card on that one because I saw how quick she was to take care of all of her other customers except me (the only white person dining there). When I said "thank you" she said "ok... " And she didn't actually approach my table, she just shouted from across the way, "Are you ready to order?" And "do you want a box?" She wasn't like that at all towards any other customers. She only approached me for my order and to drop off my food and check. I'm a server in another city close by, and I have never treated ANYONE like that. I get to my customers as quickly as possible and never let anyone feel left out or unwanted in my restaurant. And if I'm busy and don't get to them within 2 minutes of them sitting, I am apologetic. I sat down at 3:30pm and didn't get out of there until 6pm!!!!! I won't be coming...
Read moreI visited this restaurant on a Monday night around 8:30pm. I ordered a slice of lemon cake, two roti skins and a curry goat with channa and aloo (potato).
Parking: This restaurant is located in a strip mall with a humongous parking lot. There's ample lights in the parking lot.
Neighbourhood: It looks a bit sketchy at night but as a single female I felt safe as I saw the Fulton County Police in the parking lot and restaurant.
Service and Staff: The staff was friendly and smiling, well the lady who was behind the counter. The two men where just down to business and serious but not in a hostile way. I was advised it would be a 30 minute wait for my roti but was pleasantly surprised to get it in 10 minutes.
Food: As a Trinidadian who enjoys one of our country's national dish, ROTI I wasn't expecting their Dhalpurie to be this tasty and soft. They really went above my expectations with the roti. I would give it a 4/5. The curry goat was tasty BUT it could do with some more green seasoning and pepper. The lemon cake was delicious 5/5.
All in all the roti and curry was delicious, yes it's Atlanta and understandably they don't use a lot of pepper and spice because of the various clientele they have but I added some pepper sauce and it was good to go.
I'll definitely be back whenever I'm visiting...
