I have just recently moved back to College Station from Huntsville, where Yummy Yummy is one of the better and more reliable places to eat. So, I was pleased that there is a Yummi Yummi here, as well, and close to where I live. I went on a Sunday afternoon to place an order to take home with me. I ordered 3 egg rolls, two sushi rolls, and put together a set-up for the Mongolian grill. I also wanted to get an egg drop soup, which they have in Huntsville but was disappointed to learn is not available here. I spent $20, plus a small tip and, in return, had a really, really unpleasant meal experience when I got home.
The egg rolls were mushy and not very flavorful. The sushi rolls, which had been placed in the bag directly on top of the Mongolian grill, which was very hot, seemed to have cooked the rice in the rolls so that it was rather hard making for an unpleasant texture. Other than the hard rice, the Be My Guest roll wasn't bad but the California roll was pretty unremarkable. Finally, the main course, the Mongolian grill... what can I say, it was overcooked to the point of almost being burned. This not only made for an unpleasant meal, it also meant that basics, like crisp vegetables (carrots, water chestnuts, etc.) were limp and had lost most of their flavor.
The next time I went out, two days later, I stopped by to talk to a manager about my food. I even brought my receipt and some of the Mongolian grill, which I had been unable to even finish, to show what I was talking about and verify how much I had spent. Now, I have spent my career in customer service, hospitality, and food service and what I experienced was REALLY bad customer service. I spent 20 minutes talking with a staff member, there was no manager available to talk to and someone I was told was the owner. All I got from them was meaningless and unhelpful bits like "it isn't usually like this" and questions like "did you call back when you were eating?" What I never got was any kind of a positive resolution.
In true customer service, when responding to a negative situation, it isn't enough to merely give a customer what they should have gotten in the first place. that is what they had the right to expect, what they paid for. To fix a situation, and to keep the customer, who has now also added their own time and effort to the money they spent to begin with, you have to fix their problem AND give them something more to make up for the trouble and the negative experience. At the very least, you have to listen to them and show them empathy and an understanding of what they are trying to explain. What I got was none of that, nothing. No effort to even ask me what it would take to make up for it, to get me to give them another chance for them to keep me as a customer, nothing. I finally just gave up and left when it became clear that, no matter how much time I spent there, no matter how much I tried to explain to them why my experience was a negative one, I was not even going to get a heartfelt apology or acknowledgment of my experience, much less a resolution to it. I had not only wasted my money, I had wasted my time and energy.
So, if you are in Huntsville, I would speak well of their restaurant there and give it a recommendation. Unfortunately, I can not do the same for this one. My search for a new B/CS Chinese food regular restaurant will go on, I haven't...
Read moreIf I could give this ZERO stars I would. Today I went to Yummy Yummy for lunch with my co-workers and I had the WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE EVER. A waitress named BRITTNIE had been so rude to my co-workers and I. I came into the restaurant first and off the bat she greeted me with attitude when I said hi. At first I thought she was having a bad day so I didn't think too much into it. When she sat me, she slammed the menus onto the table. Later when my co-workers had gotten to the restaurant and after some time she came to ask us what we wanted for lunch. When we asked questions regarding the menu she responded to us with attitude and an irritated voice. When you're working in food service, you are bound to get people to ask questions, especially at a sushi place that has a ton of variety. Fast forward to when our tab comes-- I let her know I had my Military ID and asked if they offered a military discount. She says they did and went to check. She comes back and rudely says "well you can't get it. we have happy hour" rolls her eyes and leaves. I was so in shock that someone could be so rude for no reason. Later, when we had paid and were leaving they had the doors locked and she along with her co-workers started laughing as they saw us struggling to open the door. She then yells, "haha, who needs help opening the door?". The level of disrespect shows a true reflection of their business. Coincidentally, I also felt sick after eating there. I would not be coming here again and I would not encourage anyone to do so if they want to have an actual good and comfortable experience at...
Read moreFood wise, it was amazing. However, the server, JULIE, was bad. I went with a friend I had not seen in months due to the pandemic and we had finally been able to see each other. We sit down and it takes her 10 minutes to come and ask for our drinks, then takes her about another 10 to give us our drinks. She asks for our orders and when she gives them to us it is the last time we see her through out our meal. We went in for lunch and the place was fairly empty. Finally after 45 minutes of not seeing her, we get out check. I pay in cash, which I should have gotten my change back for. She brings my friend's card back and receipt, however she does not bring me any of my change nor my receipt. My friend tips her 18% and I am thinking that since she got my change that should be her tip. We get up and exit the restaurant, never once did we see her. My friend and I are getting close to my car and we see her fly out of the restaurant and corners us in the parking lot asking us why we didn't leave her a bigger tip and asks if she had done something wrong. We tell her that we did tip and she gets irritated and states that we did not tip her enough. I felt extremely uncomfortable with her behavior and ended up giving her 10 bucks, she didn't even say thank you for it. Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful, my friend was in total shock of what happened and I could not believe that she would corner two customers in the parking lot demanding a bigger tip. Again, her name was JULIE Never going back again, i expected better from this...
