I have seen this mall in its brightest days and now in its lowest. It is honestly sad to witness. We started going here in the early 90âs when it was a joyous place full of life.
Now you can go to visit the dying department stores or weep over the remains of long past giants. The whole place is dark and stifling hot. Vendors from random stalls spring out from the dark at unsuspecting patrons walking past.
Some of the stores are decent but due to the death of in-person shopping and the mallâs notoriously high rent, most are just empty spaces giving you a number you can call if you want to open a store and have never heard of the internet.
Oh, Post Oak. At least we have our memories. Trying on fancy clothes as a kid that my parents would never buy me. Going with my friends when we were teenagers and giggling at the adult section of Spencerâs. Buying both my prom dresses there. Drinking more Taste of the Tropics smoothies than one person should ever consume in a lifetime. Working at Macyâs (âworkingâ which means staring gormless at the broken lights and hoping no one asked me a question). Now I bring my own child there like bringing him to the Natural History Museum. So that when this place inevitably finishes its painfully slow death rattle that he can say that he once experienced a mall (plus he loves riding in those little cars).
While the mall is a very depressing and insufferably hot place to visit, it is still better than most things like going to the dentist or hearing someone talk about cryptocurrency. You can usually find really good deals. Most of the people working there are very nice. And of course they have Great American Cookie and Taste of the Tropics. You will inevitability need a smoothie once you experience Post Oak anytime from May-October so you donât have a heat stroke. If nothing else, go just to see the demise of a once monumental giant that attracted people from all the surrounding towns.
Do I think Post Oak is an experience worth having? No. Do I think it is the best place in town to shop? No. Will I cry when the last shop there leaves? Maybe but probably not.
Go because there is nothing else to do in this town that doesnât involve drinking or eating but donât expect much. She just isnât what she used to be.
Have a smoothie and pay...
Read moreI'll say the same thing about this mall that I said about the neighboring T.J. Maxx... It DESPERATELY needs an upgrade. Aside from a couple small strip malls in the BCS area this is THEE place to come and get clothes and it hasn't changed much since '97... half the mall is boomin', the other half is an almost out-of-business ghost town (that just keeps having small crummy local businesses blow through real quick then leave and go out of business). This place should really be a two story mall with far more selection and age range within that selection. I understand when I first moved to College Station in '97 our population was much much smaller than it is now and even then half of that population was transient; so this is the kind of mall we had, and all we really needed... But now it only has half the stores it used to, they're not as nicely kept, AND we have four times the population with far more permenant residents.... Hmmmm, not adding up is it? Time to upgrade the mall guys, not eveyone wants to drive an hour and a half away to shop in the Woodlands, and not everyone enjoys shopping online and waiting a week to get a pair of pants that need to be returned 50% of the time at that......
Read moreI would give 5 Stars for some of the Great stores IN the Mall. But the Mall itself sucks! Lots of stores overtime have shut down because this chain of Malls charges way over price store rental prices and business can't make enough revenue to pay it and still make a Profit. Vitamin World and Hallmark both had to shutdown in this mall recently because of this. And if I remember right, wasn't Chic Fil a in the Food court and said it would be cheaper to buy land and build a new location then to keep paying this malls outrageous rental prices!
Ive Changed my Rating down to 2 when I went to pull into what I thought was Handicapped spot on side entrance the other day and it was ALL Expecting Mother Spots! Drove around to other side of the aisle and there were only 2 actual Handicap! Iâm okay with 7 to 9 month Pregnant Woman needing to closer Parking, I understand itâs probably hard to get around that far along, but when a girl gets out NOT EVEN SHOWING and you only got 2 slots for people in Wheelchairs! Give me a break.
That being said if you have a favorite store in the Mall you should support them, shop there and tell friends to shop there so they can make enough revenue...
