I wanted to be able to leave an excellent review for food & service but simply can not. Read on …
In a nutshell - whiney “no show” waitress, cold and un chewable meat and a $500 ticket with tip already included.
If the dining receipt wasn’t so darn expensive this experience would have been comical.
We made reservations for Valentine’s Day. We arrived a little early, were greeted very nicely and were promptly seated. The atmosphere is nice and a beautiful wine display, and very good tasting wine as well. That is the good part of the review.
Then …the food server greeted us, we responded politely and she immediately complained that she was annoyed that it was busier than usual due to Valentine’s Day, but she reluctantly conceded that it was actually ok because her tip money was really good that night and she quickly left for another table. LOL!
We ordered the Duck and Beef Wellington and an expensive bottle of wine. When asking about the desert menu we were told that we probably wouldn’t get the desert we ordered because they will probably sell out by the time we are ready for it. This should have been a clue as to how long it would take to get our food, but we had wine - so… cheers!
The food server poured our wine and water and we didn’t see her again until she removed our plates. The food took an unusually long time to be presented and when it was placed in front of us it was already lukewarm- nearly room temp. The food had been plated and sitting in the back and forgotten about for about 35-45 minutes.
The particular duck on our plate was a very poor meat cut selection and full of inedible fascia so that a knife couldn’t even cut through. The plate had 95% of the inedible meat on it at the end of the meal.
The beef Wellington was flavorful but cool/ room temp after 2-3 minutes.
Neither the food server, nor a chef nor the owner was checking food quality or the dining experience.
We did get the desert we ordered - small victory! And were handed the bill which had our server’s VERY large tip already generously added in for us. How thoughtful.
When she removed the plates she saw all the uneaten meat - and either thought nothing of it or didn’t want to be bothered asking if there was a problem - since she had already informed us that it was annoyingly busy that evening.
We did not complain, we did not ask for different food (it was getting late) we paid the very spendy bill and tipped our whining & absent waitress the amount they suggested.
All of that to say- we may have had an unusually bad experience for this restaurant- but we won’t spend another $500+ to find...
Read moreThe food was good, but unfortunately the service was atrocious. For the price we paid per dish/drink, we expected at least some basic level of service. Unfortunately, we were treated like we were an inconvenience. This place is pretty expensive, so if you’re planning on spending some $$$ on a nice meal, I would recommend somewhere else.
We went for a birthday party and had never been before. I was excited to try the food and they had an unnecessarily extensive drink menu. Our server pretty much checked out the minute we walked in.
For starters, they gave us one single drink menu for 8 of us, so we were passing it around and it took forever for us to order drinks until my husband just went and asked the bar for a few more menus. Again, the menu is crazy long so it’s strange to just have 8 people look at one menu.
One man in our party ordered a specific wine and the bartender (not the server, he was texting) said that didn’t exist and after it was pointed out in the menu he just kind of walked off.
Our server was on his phone the whole night right next to our table.
I moved my fork a couple of times and my server kept coming and moving it back, it was almost a power trip or something. It was pretty comical. Like dude, just leave my fork. He was so annoyed with me that it was palpable.
We ordered, got our food and it was delicious. Props to the chef. Everyone enjoyed their food. Only thing is our server and the runners had no idea who ordered what, so plates were just put in the middle of the table and we had to pass them all around.
But our server checked out. He tried removing our plates multiple times even though we weren’t finished. He started removing my plate and I had to tell him to stop. It was obvious he wanted to go home, but it was like 9pm at this point.
Came time for dessert, and we were all going to order dessert but at that point, we felt so awkward and unwelcome that we just called it and asked for the checks. Surprise, surprise, he delivered one check for 4 couples. No big deal, but we could not find the damn guy to ask to split it.
Obviously tip was included, but it was NOT deserved. This is coming from a server/bartender myself.
We tried to celebrate a friends birthday, but we were treated like a burden. Sorry for giving you money. We all wondered why the place was empty on a Saturday night, but now we know.
Edit: I almost forgot to mention the giant cricket that hopped around our table while we were trying to split the check up on our phones! We gave him a nickname and decided that was our cue to leave and...
Read moreDon't waste your time or money going here. My wife and I went here recently on a long awaited date night. We sat down and the atmosphere was quaint with a nice ambiance. Water was immediately brought but it took a little time for the waitress to take our order. We luckily ordered our drinks, appetizer, and dinner all at the same time based on what happened next. My wife's wine came 20 minutes later and I didn't even get my Negroni until after the food arrived, which was blamed on the sole bartender who was serving drinks to the bar which was mostly empty and the dining room which was half full (a head scratcher I know). When our dinner finally showed up, it had a good representation but we didn't have a chance to enjoy our appetizer that we ordered since it never showed up! I asked the waitress to cancel the appetizer all together. The table next to us arrived after us and they go their drinks and appetizer before us. (I was still waiting on my Negroni by the way). My wife had the crusted halibut which was good and I had the sous vide elk tenderloin which somewhat gamey and unflavorful. The gratin potatoes were good. Finally my drink showed up! It was a good Negroni so cheers to the bartender but it would have been nice to enjoy it before dinner. The waiting staff also almost took my dish away while I was still clearly eating the last few bites. When the fork is placed over the knife and the plate is pushed slightly away is an indicator that one is done eating. Every fine dining waiting staff should know this. Not risking another disaster, we skipped dessert and asked for the check...twice. When it finally came my $12 Negroni was comp'd and they did not charge us for the appetizer. However the waitress was condescendingly apologetic and seemed irritated that she had to do those things to make it right. All that said I wouldn't advise going here. Hoping others had a better experience. We will...
