Edit, below is the original review: Nawabs has fallen so far, so fast. I ordered my usual, palak paneer and gongura biryani. Biryani was ordered american medium and palak paneer was ordered hindustani hot. We waited quite a while for the order and when we got home, we noticed there was no rice for the paneer. We called and they said they no longer serve the complimentary rice. Palak paneer is a curry seeved with rice! My children ate the gongura while I had to make rice for my part of the meal. My children couldn't eat it as it was too spicy for them. Finished the rice and tried mine. I cried...not from spicy food, but from the laughable quality of the food. If they need someone to tutor them on how to make hindustani food, they can ask me, a dutch-indonesian. To put it plainly, a single granule of black pepper has more spice. Now onto the issue. The menu never made mention of their claims. Rice isn't even on the menu because it is served with almost all of the food. We were not informed or asked if we wanted rice. Then the server had the audacity to say what she did. We loved this place, but now will not return and unfortunately that will also affect apna bazaar. Original: Oh my goodness...just as a warning, do not order for just yourself! We ordered the special murgh biryani and palak paneer. Paneer was ordered mild for my children and the biryani was ordered medium in the event my more adventurous child wanted a taste. It was FABULOUS! I wish I got the full throttle spice, but even at medium, it was great! The service person offered complimentary tea...I guess he didn't know that I understand hindustani cuisine and out came Chai! My wife and I were in food heaven! If you want to satisfy a need of great spicy food or want something that is not American/americanized, then come and...

Today we ordered Gongura chicken, samosa, bajji, veg noodles and chicken fry. It was a to-go order and they took some time to prepare the food. We waited and then after some time we got the food and went home. After coming home, opened the food from the bags… everything looks good but we don’t see a box for veg noodles then found a box with biryani to check what exactly it was we touched the food and then found it was a Chicken biryani(if it was veg item, we should’ve kept it). We called Nawab’s restaurant and asked how it was happened, they picked the call and told it was their mistake and to replace the chicken biryani with veg noodles we have to go to the restaurant which is again 15 mins drive. It was already late night and we’ve friends at home but we don’t have an option so we went to Nawab’s again to get the Veg noodles. People at the front desk are so rude, they don’t have the food ready and asked me to wait again for sometime. I went to the restaurant by bringing the opened, touched chicken biryani. They took it back and kept it inside the kitchen. Total time waste by traveling again and waiting at the restaurant and at the end not at all satisfied with the food.
Not going to...
Read moreThis is just another indian restaurant in Memphis area. They have a grocery store too, called ‘Apna Bazar’. We ordered over phone and picked the food from the restaurant. It was mostly packed when we were there. They have a limited numbers of tables. The food was not ready by the time we reached. So we were waiting. They sell some fresh snack. We were looking for samosa, which was finished by then. So, we bought egg puff. The owner/ staff gave us a free samosa ( the last one in the counter). Which was absolutely a nice gesture from them! We took the food and ate coming in home. My home is about 18 miles drive from there ( I live in the downtown area of Memphis). So the food was not that hot when we reached home.We got chicken dum biriyani, chicken fried rice and chili chicken. The fried rice and chili chicken was decent, more like a home made food. The biriyani was terrific. All the portion sizes were very good, as compared to the price we paid. We will go back definitely.
Update: try their chicken fry biriyani. It’s good, except the fact that it’s too spicy for me. Maybe you could request them to put less spice. The Apollo fish fry is also superb, if it would have been a little less spicy. One another r thing - they make the best samosa in...
