We visited on 12/29/23. I could see there being parking issues in the future. That parking lot was nearly full, and there are still some vacant shops there! The place is very nice and clean, and nicely appointed. My party of 3, me, my wife, and my kid, were seated at a four person table in the front dining room area. There were three TVs in that area. One was showing the Memphis game. The other two were on the Xfinity screensaver mode.
Waitress was friendly. When she asked for our drink order, I asked for a beer list. She showed me a picture of a hand-written list on her phone and said if I told her what I wanted, she'd tell me if they still had it. I would later find out that one of the pieces of decor on our table - it looked like a small paint can holding one set of plastic cutlery wrapped in a napkin - had a QR code you could scan to see the beer list on Untappd. Also, over by the bar there is a huge chalkboard wall with the beer list on it. Our waitress didn't seem to be aware of the QR code, and you couldn't see that wall from the little front section of the dining room, though.
Drinks came out promptly, and they had a lid on the kid's drink. I had a beer which was reasonably priced for a craft beer at a restaurant. I also had a cocktail called the Crossroads which features Blue Note's Juke Joint Whiskey. It was balanced and well-made, though a real cocktail snob would say they used the wrong kind of ice. It was a bunch of little cubes instead of one big one.
We ordered the garlic parmesan bites for an appetizer. They were little dough balls with oil, garlic, fresh parm, and parsley on them, served with marinara for dipping. Delicious. The parmesan didn't stick very well, but that's a common problem.
We got two pizzas, the margherita and the Big Apple. There is no small/medium/large; they are 13" pizzas. Between the two pizzas and the appetizer plate on our table, I was glad we only had a party of three. We wouldn't have had enough room on the table for a fourth.
Pizzas were tasty. The sauce is good. The margherita was a little sparse with the cheese for my taste. The Big Apple was very good. The spicy sausage had a nice little kick, and the whipped ricotta was very light. I'm not a huge fan of those pepperonis that cup when they cook because they gather puddles of grease in them, but that's just a personal thing. Flavor was very good.
As each of us were starting our second slice of pizza, the waitress asked if she could get us anything else and dropped off the check, which was a little premature. When we wanted to check out, she brought a little handheld card reader to the table. After you put in the tip and before it asks about a receipt, it tries to have you take a survey. That's poor planning as it holds the waitress up if you do it.
There is a nice patio area there, but we didn't get to try it out since it was a cold, dreary day. It's going to be pretty nice when they weather is, I think.
Good food, and we'll definitely be back. There is definitely some room for improvement with some of the...
Read moreI've ate here multiple times now trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and my conclusion is.. it's really a hit or miss whether you'll receive edible thoroughly cooked food. The cost associated seems extremely overpriced for food you might not be able to eat. Let me explain. The first few times ordering I was thoroughly impressed. I told EVERYONE about this place. I don't know what happened after that but it was downhill from there. The 5th visit I encountered partially cooked lasagna and when I called I was told I'd be refunded (still waiting on that refund). Tonight took the cake though. I don't know who was cooking when I ate here the 1st time but GET THEM BACK. The food is a completely different taste! The lasagna for instance had a slightly sweet tasting marinara. That is what I prefer so this is why I was so excited upon initially trying out this establishment. With that said tonight was the last straw. Whoever is premaking (yes, they premake their lasagna and reheat when ordered hence the issue I had before with receiving a cold lasagna) said lasagna needs to STOP. They need to STOP adding their own seasonings because not only are they not needed they are NOT wanted!!! The lasagna was way to salty and mushy do to not being cooked thoroughly I just threw the whole thing away. The chicken ceasar salad was missing the extra ingredients I paid for and I had to go back. The food was sitting out when I arrived after specifically calling and asking them to please keep my food under a warmer or something not just sitting out because I was running behind. The girl who answered the phone agreed and when I arrived of course it was sitting out. So, the salad was wilted and warm from sitting on top of the warm lasagna. The lasagna was warm and mushy probably from the condensation watering it down and it was disgusting. The original recipe was perfect DO NOT mess with it whoever you are premaking the pastas! Furthermore, I am pretty sure there has to be some health dept standards on orders being kept at a temp that at least holds off nasty stuff from growing. I threw everything away due to these issues tonight. After being lied to about a refund before (with the cold lasagna) and not receiving I am aware it's pointless to call and complain so I just won't be returning. I also will be retracting my previous 5 star review and updating it to its rightful place as of today. If i could give 0 stars this place would get it. It's sad to because I was so excited initially and it's sad this place has become such a huge let down and possible health dept regulation violator. SMH SN: The picture below is what you receive with the lasagna and this way from the time the lasagna wasn't cooked neither were these. As you can tell they are still doughy. The lasagna was...
Read moreAfter previously having a lovely lunch experience here last fall, my kid decided on Rotolo as her place of choice to have dinner after her graduation. It's not a fancy place but the food is generally pretty good. Unfortunately we had a really unpleasant experience. It wasn't just one thing. It was an accumulation of things. Let's start with cleanliness. When asked for a beer menu (they have lots of beers on tap) we were referred to a QR code on a can on the table. The QR code was a little dirty and didn't quite scan at first but ultimately I got it to work. Then once ordered, the prosecco glass for one of our guests had lemon seeds caked to it and we had to return it and ask for a new glass. The new glass had smudges, but at least they were only on the outside. Then we discovered that one of the water cups had a black ring on the inside. Another one had a small black clump of whatever in the bottom. We should have gotten up and left at that point. But we just decided to skip drinking the water and stay. It was getting late and we were hungry. I should mention we were seated close to the window. While we waited on our food some kid came by, squeezed uncomfortable close to my daughter so he could reach the window behind her and attempted to clean said window by spraying something on it, wiping a couple of times and leaving the smears as they were. Since he couldn't smear it all from one side he actually walked all the way around our table to get to the other side and repeated the procedure. We were too dumbfounded to even say anything at that point and just laughed and shook our heads. When the food arrived, the pasta was okay, the wings were fantastic, one of the pizzas was good but another pizza had some rubbery coating on some of the pepperoni. It wasn't cheese, it was stringy and bouncy and very rubbery. I showed it to the server, who, once he realized I was trying to give it to him to look at, asked me to put it on a napkin, which I did. He disappeared with it and didn't come back to the table for some while. At some point he came back and asked if we didn't want to eat the pizza, which we said no, we don't know what the rubbery thing is and it made us lose our appetite. He did end up not charging us for it, but there was never any apology or explanation what it could have been and we were definitely made to feel like WE were the issue. My best guess is it's casing from the pepperoni that wasn't removed before slicing it. Needless to say, we won't be back any time soon. I really hope they will get their act together as I love their concept. But after this experience I'm honestly just glad we didn't end up with...
