UPDATE: I called the restaurant and spoke to Anthony (manager), and he was incredibly attentive to our concerns and made up for the negative experience tonight, so I am bringing my review from 3 stars to 4! He offered us an incredibly generous gift card to make up for our negative experience. Give this guy a raise!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’m not normally one to leave negative reviews, but this feels needed. The food is delicious and the ambience is really nice. I want this restaurant to do well as I live close and would love to give a second chance.
We were greeted enthusiastically by the host, and they were lovely! Perfect service. We were brought out drinks fast by the manager which was great. The service went downhill from there. Our server was incredibly off putting and made everyone at the table feel uncomfortable. They made us feel like what we had ordered was strange and it felt like they were treating us different than other tables.
I think that the servers need to be trained on guest relations and how to speak to guests. I’m sure this person does not know that they come off very rude and off putting, but it made us all uncomfy. As someone who has worked in restaurants and fine dining…at this price point I feel there should be a higher standard of how guests are treated.
Also, we were not asked how we wanted the check, and it was brought to us as one check and we needed it split. We would’ve ordered dessert, but it was not offered to us. The service honestly felt a bit rushed, especially towards the end. We were very kind to the server regardless of the service, and did not ask for the manager, even though I honestly feel like I should have.
I will return, and hopefully it will be better next time. I want to believe this server was having an off day and I hope to see better service...
Read moreFirst visit here. 6:15pm on a Tuesday. Table seating were all spoken for so the hostess found us two seats at the bar. Initial contact with bartender was quick and very professional. All down hill after that. Could not get either of the bartenders eye to let them know we were ready to order. Literally had to raise my voice to get their attention. Acoustic at bar at terrible. Anyway ordered dinner. Hers was salmon mine was fried grouper sandwich. Hers was hot mine was cold! Again had difficulty getting bartenders attention. He returned my plate to kitchen. Apparently they too the entire plate and either put in oven or in salamander broiler. Plate was returned to me with the tartar sauce bubbling. Apparently they don’t know you don’t heat tartar sauce. Once again had to get the attention of the bartender. He took my meal off the ticket.Now all this time the bartender never asked us if we would like a second beverage. Never noticed our glasses empty. Upon leaving I asked to speak with a manager. Nice gentlemen, Anthony I believe his name was , listened carefully as I detailed our experience there. He appeared sincerely interested and offered to fully refund our bill for the evening. He already had a gift card in his hands which he also gave us. This gentleman is an example of a professional restaurant manager. He listened and took responsibility and offered an apology over and above. This is a fairly new restaurant in this location. Read moreThis was our second visit for dinner at SOB in Collierville. We took my parents on our first visit not long after it had opened and everything was very good. It had been a while so we decided to have dinner there again. It was on a Saturday at 5:15 PM and to our surprise it wasn't that busy. We were a party of three and were seated immediately without having to wait. The hostess was friendly and took us to our seats. The waitress was quick to visit our table and we all ordered a dinner but I was the only one who requested a salad (which was excellent) before dinner. I was a bit disappointed that she brought our dinners out while I was not even halfway through my salad. I felt like I was being rushed somewhat. Dinners again were excellent but again she brought our bill while we were still eating and again we felt rushed. It doesn't matter when she says to take your time it just feels like they want the table ASAP for the next clients. The bill for three people with drinks was reasonable and not too expensive. After paying the bill and filling out the tip another waitress came over and asked if this was my credit card. Our waitress had left my credit card near the payment terminal.
