Cakes and Moore Bakery — Restaurant in Colonial Heights

Very disappointed in customer service & cake. Ordered cake 7/18 Wed for cake to be picked up on 7/27 at 5pm.  9 days in between. Ordered w/ several pics and key items I wanted on cake for a 16th birthday. On 7/27 at 2pm I received a call that the girl who took order didn't work there any longer and asked me what I wanted on the cake and if I had pics. 3 hours before pick up!!!! Thankfully I answered the call. I said I would get the cake the following morning because I did not want rushed work. Picked up the cake 7/28.  The cake was in box and held up high. I was asked if it was ok and I said I can't see it. I was shown the front of the cake and while it wasn't what I wanted it was ok. I knew then I'd never come back. When I got home and took out box I saw the back, which was missing the all around signs I asked for and the 16 that stood on the top of cake was horrible. It was poorly sculpted and the back was just a smear of melting chocolate. The printed paper was peeling off the fondant. Horrible. When I called to complain the girl who answered who was also the one who showed me the cake immediately got an attitude which resulted in me getting very upset. She kept saying you signed for the cake,  we don't decorate the back, and there was nothing she could do because for the 4th time I signed for it.  I said I needed a solution and I wasn't asking for a full refund but a partial. After more arguing with me she discussed with owner and offered for me to pick up a $20 check. I Would never recommend to anyone. If I needed this cake on the original day and hadn't answered the call 3 hours before pick up, then who knows what would have happened. They had 9 days of notice. Not the customers fault that employees no longer work there. You should always show the entire cake and it shouldn't be in a box at pick up, so the customer can't even see it entirely and learn some customer service.  Not until the very end did I get an insincere I am sorry from the employee. She just kept repeating well you signed for it.  I had to end up decorating the back myself. Ukrops cakes are much better. I spent $50 on this poorly made cake.  The taste of the cake could have been better. Everyone who had a slice didn't finish it. It tasted like...

After spending a year planning this special birthday party and researching different bakery thus bakery Cakes and More was decided on. It had great reviews other people said they have tried and liked their stuff. The order was placed. That's one less thing to stress about. Everyone I always looking forward to the cake you want it perfect! You go to pick up the cake which should've been finished the night before but they are still decorating it. Ok that's fine. Well turns out not fine it's a sad looking cake. Uneven still had the dome effect not trimmed down to be flat on top. The trim looks like a new person just goobed white icing on it instead of the blue. The picture was not centered also peeling up from the cake and not decorating around it. Happy Birthday was scrunched together. Very unprofessional looking. But it's time for the party no other choice but to take this cake and hope it's taste good. Cut and serve the cake. It tasted horrible.  Clumps of flour baking soda and other things. Any baker knows you must scrape your mixing bowl sides and bottom while mixing. It wasn't even fully baked as well. Why would any bakery send this product out to a party of 30 plus people. Now you know it's a bad cake when little kids won't even eat the icing. Thankfully my friend received a full refund instead of the partial refund that was first offered. Then a member of the party sent them a message so they offered her a full refund. While the even asked why she accepted the cake to start with. Well what other choice did your bakery give her? Instead of asking why they accepted this sad looking cake. You should be asking why you sent out this bad product to begin with? We eat with our eyes and smell as well as taste it must looking delicious smell wonderful and taste excellent. Very pleased with the customer service and the cake! i order a cake on 8/15 wednesday for my cake to be picked up on 8/24 at 5:30pm! 9 days in between! ordered and sent pictures of several items i wanted on the cake for a 18th birthday! on 7/24 at 2pm i received a call that she girl who took my order didn’t work there any longer and they wanted to review my order so that everything was perfect for me! i offered to pick it up in the morning since i didn’t need it until the next afternoon! i’m so very grateful that they called to review my order and make sure it was what i asked for since it is not their fault that an employee was no longer working there! when i picked up my cake it was already boxed and the even taped it so it wouldn’t interfere with the cake topper! they asked me to look at the cake and i approved i could see all angles necessary and everything i asked for was on it! i even asked to see the back and they didn’t hesitate to unbox it and show me even though i knew everyone would only look at the front of the cake! i knew i’d be back for all my baking needs! when i got home i was so pleased with my cake it went great with my theme and looked amazing on my display table! the best part was not only did it look great it tasted great too! everyone finished their whole slice and asked for moore ;) pun intended!! when i called to compliment them they were so sweet and grateful! i’m so thankful to have come across this little bakery i love everything about it the employees are amazing the food is even better i don’t know how you could have a bad expierence! much love for the cakes and moore...
