Skrimp Shack — Restaurant in Colonial Heights

This was my first time trying Skrimp Shack. My husband has been raving about hearing they had the best fish sandwich. I must say, to be a fast food restaurant they were extremely clean; truly nothing was out of place. The staff was there, neither friendly nor mean. I asked for recommendations, but was told she doesn’t eat the food, so she wasn’t sure what to offer. They did have the option to place your order yourself if you were paying with card. I had the shack pack with catfish (which had a $1 upgrade / whiting would have been included) with Mac and cheese, collard greens and strawberry shortcake. My hush puppies and fries weren’t fresh. You could tell they had been sitting out for quite some time. The shrimp and fish were fried but I would’ve enjoyed it, if they were fried harder. It also lacked seasoning. I think they should season the fish prior to frying it. The collard greens were sweet, overly sweet. Me, my husband and teenager daughter tried them and we all agreed (to throw them in the trash, which is exactly what we did). The Mac and cheese was made with a white, maybe queso cheese. While better than the collard greens (but that doesn’t say much) it too lacked seasoning and tasted more like box Kraft Mac and cheese than homemade or restaurant quality. Wow my first two time of going to skrimp Shack my food was delicious on point I told my hold family about how good it and they all come thise we do when something it good especially food ok , So we want back 😩 as people's do but my God the food was horrible and all I order was shrimp Shack pack which come with 2 piece of whiting fish skimp/small, french fries 3 hush puppies & 4 skrimp $11.99 total was $13.41, my girlfriend order a fish sandwich she was be smart ok, Iam so sorry but my food didn't taste good at all. This was the 2nd time I've order or gotten food from this place and it wasn't good y'all, So iam sorry but Iam done coming back an beside they had a sign up at the cash register. Letting their customers know that they was short Staff and to be patient with them for the waited, So ok maybe that should've been my Q warning sign to say no let's go somewhere else, but no"!!😵🤣🤣 I wanted me some hot fish, Shrimp, but I didn't expect how it would taste ok. So I guess because they was short Staff was the reason to why my food tasted horrible or because their was using it as excuse for the customers so they would've to complain about how bad the food was or service. Either way It is what it is, all I'm saying is that my food wasn't good both times I wanted, So me or my friends & family won't be going back Skrimp...

Skrimp Shack needs to update the online menu, so that it at least reflects the prices of 2022. We called to place an order only to be told they no longer offered those items. On a previous attempt, prior to the pandemic, we tried using the online menu and were told it was an old menu and the prices were not correct.

I ordered grilled whiting with greens. The whiting was overcooked to the point of being dry and the greens were overcooked as well with a bland taste. My hubby ordered fried whiting, cole slaw, and 8 shrimp. He was disappointed with all of the breading he had to pull off the fish and said his fish was overcooked as well.

To close out our sad adventure, we're both handicapped however, there's no actual handicapped entrance/exit for the Skrimp Shack as we discovered when both drinks tumbled off of his rollator (walker) because he had to lift the wheels over the curb onto the street. The drinks were on top of the food trays in the basket that is attached to his rollator.
