I surprised the wife with a spontaneous date night to a restaurant we haven’t been to in quite some time. I made reservations with Open Table for 6:15 and were seated pretty promptly at a high top in the bar area.
The service went very well. The server was very attentive and filled up our waters multiple times. I’m always one to drink multiple cups of water; therefore, it’s always a nice touch to check on their tables’ drinks levels.
We were famished and I in particularly ordered the onion rings as an appetizer along with the bourbon glazed salmon and exchanged the spinach to have tater tots. I also ordered a side of waffle fries.
My wife ordered the Double Bacon Burger with Mozzarella Mac & Cheese. She thought the most and cheese was definitely worth her choice as the side dish. It lived up to the hype in her opinion.
I enjoyed the salmon and rice. The salmon skin was flavorful and the entire salmon was tender throughout. A refreshing tasting salmon is always a pleasant experience and this one delivered. The cilantro rice was heavy on cilantro and the tater tots were extra crispy. Both did there job and didn’t leave much to be desired.
The crispy waffle fries were graciously seasoned and had great texture.
Shockingly though the star of the day was the appetizer - the onion rings. $12 is definitely a premium for onion rings but they were the BEST onion rings I’ve had in Colorado Springs. The batter is not too oily or overpowering and the onion they use is solid. Each bite allowed the onion and batter to equally come off. This allows a pleasant experience with not to much of one element. Phenomenal job and the sauce they have for the onion rings needs to be duplicated. Phenomenal complement.
Overall, it was $91 after tip, but please note that this was well worth it. Elevated experience from the service to the food and definitely the right choice was made for the spontaneous date night.
Can’t wait...
Read moreThe brunch buffet is a scam. You will spend $40 for cold food. Go elsewhere.
Our family decided to meet here for brunch as it was between our multiple parties. Several of us have eaten here for Saturday brunches and had good experiences with plates being $15-20. We were surprised to find out that they only offer a buffet on Sunday.
Due to our large party size, we felt it was best to stick around rather than switching restaurants, and we all tried to find out how much the buffet was. The price is not posted anywhere. It was not posted on any of the drink menus (the only one provided to us). It also was not posted on their website, and the waitress neglected to inform us. One of my cousins found somewhere that it was $25, and we should have confirmed. I just would expect that it would be posted for the customer.
We started to participate in the buffet, and the omelet chef was very nice and polite. Everything was freshly cooked, and I initially thought it was a nice buffet. When trying the other items in the buffet, every single one was overdone and cold, as if the warmers had been too hot initially and then left to die. One of my family members said the Belgian waffle station was great, but it seems the only 2 things worth eating were the items made at your request. All of this for $37.
I never leave reviews, but this was such a shock and slap in the face. I don't have an issue with the buffet or the prices. The true ethical dilemma is that they never inform the customer of the price. It is not listed anywhere and we were never told when we said we have never done their buffet and asked for the normal brunch menu. They know what they are doing or they would clearly have it posted or offer other options. In times past, I have enjoyed my food here and tried to support them. This scam was so despicable that I will never return. Please do yourself a favor and go to any of the better restaurants in the...
Read moreI went there for the first time today for a brunch. The place was empty. We were seated promptly where we asked and staff was very friendly and courteous. On their website, the menu shows plated brunches from $15 to $19 per plate but they don’t have any of it for brunch, in fact. The only option you will get is a brunch buffet, and be ready to pay $39 per person for food. For all the drinks except for water you have to pay extra and it’s surprising, at least for the basic options. They also don’t have decaf coffee at all which is a big bummer because medically, I can’t have caffeine. So, no coffee for me but they have a menu of bottomless drinks which you can explore; both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The variety of foods they have is nice. There’s a person who cooks you a fresh omelet with a variety of toppings of your choice and carves your meat. I liked the omelet and ham was nice but another kind of meat I didn’t enjoy. Not sure what it was; my husband got it and shared with me. Apart from that, you can get potatoes, sausages, bacon, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, waffles, French toast, fresh fruit and berries, baked goods, yogurt and muesli. Everything was fresh and delicious. No veggies whatsoever. While the variety and the service is really nice, in my opinion, $39 per person is too expensive, given they also don’t include any drinks in it. Their asking % for tips though is 18%-25% which is not the highest but you basically tip for bringing you water, cooking omelet and cleaning your plates from the table.
In general, I liked the experience and the food was nice but not for the price, especially since even basic drinks are not included. Overall, it was worth a try at least once but you can get a loaded a-la carte meal with drinks and desserts pretty much anywhere for...
