I never leave reviews - this place has me cranky though.
Host was good. Bartender OK "minus". Management can kick rocks.
You only get 1 chance to make a first impression & this place missed. We like to try new places & new beverages. We also use the happy hour/bar experience to judge if we will return for a full evening of dinner & drinks - often with friends & family.
While researching our next hole in the wall or off the beaten path place I came across the website for Caddie's. Their website advertises a particular drink that is not common & one of the favorites of my other half. I make it for her at home quite often & she was excited to compare it to a lounge. I was a looking forward to trying one of their one off drinks on the same online menu. Yet they don't make it because the required alcohol isn't carried anymore. Strike 1. On the website- not only were their regular prices reasonable, they have a decent happy hour.... as advertised on their website. & this is where things go bad... Strike 2 & 3... you're out.
We get there for happy hour & the menu boards & physical menu do not reflect the website. It's 2025 & your website doesn't reflect your physical printed menus? I asked the bartender & she was basically projecting the attitude of you are SOL - sorry. So we left w/out ordering. Too bad for her. I was a bartender for a very long time & generally tip very well.
This is a bummer, because looking at their weekly specials I was looking forward to a good experience so we could return to sample their prime rib, their fish & chips, & do so from their balcony.
Alas, this will never happen. As far as golf club bar/grill for a decent price & average+ service... patty jewitt wins hands down. VH will never get our dollar.
If you are good with rum & cokes & french fries, i'm sure this place will check that box. Don't expect tom cruise &...
Read moreNot a great experience. Maybe just the time we visited (1 pm on Thusday), but it took a very long time to get our food, no condiments like ketchup or even salad dressing were served with it, my french dip had no au jus--I had to ask for it and wait a good five minutes until my (rather under-stuffed) sandwich was cold. The soup we ordered didn't come out until we were nearly finished with our entree, and it was the worst french onion soup my wife ever had (and my NE clam chowder was just odd). And when ordering the french onion soup, the waitress said "green chili?" and my wife corrected her and said "no, fench onion". What came out with the meal? green chilli :-(
The manager did get our soup right out as soon as we mentioned it to him, and when they brought us and charged us for the wrong to-go entree, he had the server correct the charge. I really wanted to like this place since it is close to my daughter's appartment, and was appreciative that they tried to make things right, but we were disappointed iand spent a lot longer at lunch than we wanted to.
Based on most or the other reviews, I expect/hope this was an aberration.
Update (reduced from 3 to 2 stars): my daughter just let me know that the ribeye steak we got to-go for her husband (by mistake, after ordering the sirloin), who is active duty Army and couldn't join us for lunch, was "rotten". She said it tasted awful and spoiled, and her husband almost vomited after eating a piece. Really glad we only paid $13 vs. $18 for it. My wife isn't feeling great either, but no clue if it was just a "normal" reaction to the french onion soup...
Read moreThe place has an authentic Mid/Mod vibe. From the original stack-stone interior wall which hosts a massive copper-hooded fireplace, to the big circular skylight overhead in the entryway. Coveted west-facing Peak views both indoors and outside on the spacious patio. I hope they continue to embrace the building’s (and neighborhood’s) cool midcentury roots.
Flying solo, I sat at the bar. It’s unusually small for the space(s) it serves. Only seats six 🤷♂️. But busy bartender/server Michelle was totally on point providing prompt, friendly, attentive service and conversation. Appreciated that.
The menu is unexpectedly interesting and diverse. 👍 I over-ordered so I could try more things. The pork green chile was very tasty! Just the right amount of heat to be interesting, but not enough to obliterate the flavor. Yum. Also ordered the Cobb Salad and a flatbread pizza. One of the better Cobb’s I’ve had. The romaine was fresh, green and crunchy. The grilled chicken was tender and juicy, not tough and leathery like so many are these days. The flatbread was cheesy and tasty.
I really like this place. I’ll be returning soon. And with friends next time.
P.S. — I gave up golf years ago after I shanked a ball into the parking lot, and right through the window of my golf instructor’s car. True story. But this place does a great job mixing the post-round clubhouse vibe with a hip public eatery vibe. That’s not...
