First off, please note that this is a Condominium and Business complex first and a Hotel 2nd. This is a very unique place and I can honestly say that I have never stayed at any place like it. Its seems to be mainly retirees and the residents all seemed very nice. It is a very cool looking building and interesting layout. The rates are reasonable, but we soon learned there may be reasons.
Let me preface this next bit by saying that I waited a while to post this to make sure I still felt the same way. Also, I would not blame the place for some of what occurred. Maybe we just happened to be there when the stars were aligning. So 3 months later here I am and this was my experience.
2 Ambulances, 3 Fire Trucks, 5 Police Cars, a death and an upset man. No partridge in a pear tree.
When we arrived the local Fire Department was pulling up some hoses in front of the building, but nothing seemed charred and no smoke. Check in was fairly smooth as we had prepaid, but upon entering our room we found that instead of the mountain view we were expecting we had a nice view of the entry way and parking lot. The wife goes down to see about fixing this and the attendant advises her that she needed to call and request that. When she advised the attendant that she did in fact call the booking website and request this she was informed that she needed to call the hotel directly to request. Okay, fair enough.
We step out to have some dinner and enjoy the area and when we return there is another Fire Truck and and Ambulance outside of the hotel. When we enter the lobby there are emergency personal there and also a very irate gentleman. There also seems to be some sort of large party or event going on as there are now staff there with Event and Security on their shirts. We go up stairs and step out to enjoy the Colorado air and soon 3 Police cars pull up to the hotel with their lights and sirens going. It seems they are there for the irate man who it appears is being evicted from the place as a lot of his possessions are stacked in the entry way. This is where the man is now pacing back and forth, expressing his unhappiness in colorful ways. While the police are talking to this man things get sad as the paramedics come out with a stretcher that is covered. While all of this is going on families from the party and hotel guests are having to walk through this as they come and go.
That was our first night there. During our 2nd day there we saw another Ambulance and 2 more Police cars come to the hotel, though not with their lights and sirens on this time.
The rooms were comfortable, but could use a bit more attention on the cleaning department. The balaony in our room was aparently non smoking but there were cigarette burns all over the floor. When we did our check to ensure we didn't leave anything before checking out I discovered some dirty socks, an earplug and other trash under the bed that apparently had not been cleaned.
They offer free breakfast, but you must obtain vouchers for each person there that wants breakfast. We were only given enough for one breakfast even though we were staying 2 nights and were told we would need to come back the next day for new vouchers. The restaurant there was worked by a very over-worked, but very nice young man. The food was very good, but be prepared for a wait.
The best part of this place is that there is an El Super Taco not far from there that I highly suggest checking out, but we will not be staying again at the Satellite Hotel on our next stay in...
Read moreTL;DR Unless you're getting the room for under $100, go elsewhere. If all you need is a halfway decent bed then this will do. The Bed It's not bad. The mattress is admittedly ok. Although its oddly high off the ground. The blankets are thin but good enough. The pillows are disappointing. I cant tell if they are different kinds or just different age. The pillows are very flat and don't offer a lot of support. The Room It has a minifridge, a microwave, and a 20 something inch flatscreen. 3 lamps, each with 2 plugs in my room. The furniture is decent. But the carpet is old and makes me nervous. The room is a non smoking room BUT the room across the hall is not. Plus the gap under my door is at least an inch. The Bathroom Inarguably the worst part of the hotel. The towels didnt seem clean when I arrived. There was a rack on the wall to hold rolled towels yet they were hanging on the towel bar, they just didn't seem right. There is a hair dryer but on the max setting is equivalent to the lowest setting on a standard hair dryer and the low setting is laughable, but it is better than nothing. The soap options are pretty standard but the shower head is horrible. I'm 6ft, I understand if the shower head isn't taller than me, but this shower head came to my shoulders. It has to be a $10 shower head too. The handle (to change the temperature of the water) is very outdated and very difficult to control. I've also never had to wait for cold water. The tiles on the wall are literally falling off the wall. There is a hear lamp, but it doesn't work. The toilet is standard and the paper is lower than average but not bad. Other Stuff Breakfast isn't located in the building. When you check in you get a piece is paper with your checkout date on it. You take that to the diner at the edge of the parking lot to get a free call breakfast or $4 any other item. There is also a decent amount of stuff in the hotel itself as it is also a large apartment building but if the rest of the building matches the rooms then I choose to avoid it. The elevators are creepy looking. The whole building has a weird vibe to it. Straight out of the 60s. There is plenty of space in the parking lot with multiple entrances/exits. Parking for any sort of...
Read moreThis is NOT A HOTEL. A hotel expects and welcomes guests. People live here full time and most residents are elderly. That is not the biggest issue. There is no real Covid precautions being taken. Elderly people and the restroom was dirty, the counters were dirty and never once did I see anyone cleaning the elevator buttons or doorknobs. Finally we booked on hotels.com so once we checked in and saw the condition on the room, we contacted hotels.com they said they could not cancel our second night. 1106 am next day phone rings from the rudest little girl saying we were supposed to check out, mind you I already paid for two days and spent over a hour cleaning this room with my own supplies. This little brat then tells me she does not care about my confirmation or reservation. I ask for a manager. The manager who was likely the most unprofessional person I ever spoke called a couple minutes later and was ever more conformational than the incompetent child running the front desk. She was very rude and when I raised my voice and told her she was absolutely not going to talk to me like that she said to get my sh*t out and hung up. Of course when I went down to the front desk there was conveniently a shift change and the manager who had so much guts to talk to me in such a disrespectful and prejudice way was gone for the day. If I cursed and acted like a psycho rather than a professional at my place of business I guess I would be a coward and hide too. I reporting them to the Heath department, better business bureau and warning all of you. This is the worst experience I've ever had and I can't believe that anyone in any business would behave this way. Don't go here, they are not a hotel.
But the gentleman from Massachusetts was very friendly and I feel very sorry he works there and is being put at risk by the lack of cleaning and has to work with such unprofessional nasty ladies. I would never treat customers like this where I'm from or I wouldn't have a job.
Stay away from this dirty super...
