Alright everyone.. My best friend is in town and we both LOVE hole in the wall local places. We googled for about an hour or so to find the PERFECT place. We were pretty indecisive about what type of food we wanted to have to be honest. And let me tell you, this is the PERFECT place! Drew was our server, he was amazing and super attendant. I feel like he gave every costumer just the perfect amount of his time to make you feel so welcome! The food was so delicious. My friend ordered Hunter’s Stew – Slow-cooked pork loin, polish kielbasa, mushrooms, cabbage & sauerkraut. Served with fresh-baked bread. When she took her first bite I could tell how much she Enjoyed the food. She literally described it as “ a bite of this tastes like a warm hug and feels like home” she was in food heaven! I had the special of the day: BEEF PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM GOULASH OVER A POTATO PANCAKE. I was able to get the last portion of it. It was almost like it was meant for me to have it! The last time I’ve had potatoes pancakes was about 15 years ago at home. I’m from Europe and when I took my first bite I had instant Heimweh (Homesick) EVERYTHING is made from scratch fresh. Even the owner had a minute to come to our table and check on us. She wanted to make sure to let us know that they DO NOT OWN A MICROWAVE in this restaurant. You can just see how much pride she takes in her food. They plated the food very nice as well. The food was amazing, the server amazing this place overall is just amazing and if you haven’t been yet, you have to check it out!!

What a wonderful little find, in Colorado Springs! While visiting the Springs, I did a Google search for nearby restaurants, so I could eat before my trip back to Denver. I chose to try The European Cafe, and was greeted immediately as I entered, by a friendly gentleman, and then by his wife. I chose to sit outside, as it was a beautiful day, and was pleased to see such a spacious and well maintained seating area. After spending quite awhile trying to decide what to try, (There were so many tempting options),I settled on the Salmon Salad. I have to say, it was one of the best salads, I have ever had. The blend of ingredients, which included, candied pecans, spinach, salmon, red onions, a sliced pear, an egg, fetta cheese, and covered with raspberry vinergarette, was amazing! It all blended well together, and each ingredient, wonderfully accented the others. It also came with 2 cheese & sauerkraut perogis. (My 1st time trying those) I also decided to give the Borscht a try, and even though I am not a fan of mushrooms, I must admit, the Borscht was quite delicious. I absolutely recommend this place, not only for the food, but also for the very friendly staff!

We ate at this cute little house-converted-to-restaurant a couple of weeks ago. Parking was a challenge, but in this area of town, that's to he expected. The building neat, clean, and their decorations were nice. We were seated immediately and considered sitting outside, but it was raining, so decided to sit inside. The food was attractive and really very good! It reminded me of food I've eaten in Germany and some that my mother used to make. Unfortunately, there were two things that brought the rating down, for me. First, the service was pretty poor. Our waiter was pretty slow, didn't check on us much at all, and generally not very happy or friendly...maybe it was an off day for him; I'm not sure. But the second thing was the really rough one: in the room where we were sitting, it was EXTREMELY hot! It must have been around the 82-85 degree range, which doesn't make for a real comfortable eating experience... By the time we finished eating, my back was covered in sweat - never a good feeling. In the end, I'd be willing to try it again, and we may, but we'll probably have to sit outside if we do.

Came for Mother's Day lunch. Called in a reservation ahead of time. It was not our first visit to this restaurant so we were pretty familiar that food takes longer and came in with such expectation, especially considering it was a holiday. The outdoor seating area is lovely and the food is usually good. However, since the moment we arrived for our reservation we were told that the kitchen is backed up and it will be 45 minutes to an hour for food, which we were fine with but they seemed disappointed that we did not chose to leave. But it's not like we could just go someplace else without a reservation. Then, we had to really fight to be seated outside, and were told there was not one open when we saw tables open as we walked by and were willing to wait for one to be cleared. Once seated, we were given a menu which unfortunately was a much smaller Mother's Day menu that did not have some of our favorite options. But again we chose to stay and make the best of it. Service was really lackluster. With over an hour wait for food we were not even offered glasses of water or offered an option to order additional drinks even though they were all empty by the time food was brought out. Dessert had to be ordered at the time of original order and even that was like pulling teeth because dessert was not on the limited menu so had to specifically ask about crepes for the kids . Once food was dropped off we did not see our server again until she dropped off the check without asking if we needed anything else or checking how we enjoyed our meal or offering anything like ketchup for the fries. It really felt like we were an inconvenience. Final blow was additional service charge built into the check and suggested tip amount was calculated not just on the food total but also on taxes and the already built in 4%...

My family and I are from Houston, so seeing snow in any capacity more than an inch is a wonder for us. We came early in the morning yesterday and were immediately greeted with such warmth and care from whom I presume to be the owners.

Then, we were sat and introduced to Pam. Pam was simply a wonderful server! She engaged in conversation with us and didn’t make us feel like she was in a rush (which is quite common in Houston, I realized after coming here). She was quick, witty, and very nice to my family.

The food was all amazing. The only thing that wasn’t eaten was the Polish sausage. I’m not sure why, but my dad only took one bite and never ate the rest. But all of us got a huge spread of food (we had to fill up because of plans later). I had been craving an American style breakfast since I landed and I was not disappointed in the least. On each of our plates was a small slice of pineapple, which was probably the best, sweetest, and juiciest pineapple I have ever had. How did they do it in the winter? I have no idea. But I admire them, regardless. I ordered the French toast with the side of bacon, and home fries. Everything was delicious, but the bacon was especially amazing.

There was an older woman with either blonde or gray hair who came while we were eating to ask if we wanted mustard and if we were enjoying the food. I assume she was the owner, but I just wanted to note that she was so kind and really made us feel so welcome.

Bottom line: If we had this restaurant in Houston, I would definitely go at least every other week. Thank you...
