Around lunchtime 12:30-1:00pm my friends and I arrived at the brewery, taking a break from riding around town on our mountain bikes. Now, starting with the host that sat my three friends and I down. I took my seat and asked if the dark souls beer was available, in a very condescending tone he stated, “Well, I would say if it is not on the menu, then no.” I said, “Thats fair I guess.” Then didn’t pay it another thought. My party was then greeted by the waiter. We took our order for food and drinks, then proceeded to play a card game (exploding kittens). 45mins goes by and we are interrupted by a waitress that was taking care of another table. She asked us to keep it down and said that we were being loud. One of my friends kindly said of course and apologized. Directly after another worker (white male with spiked brown/black hair) decided to chime in aggressively and reiterate what the waitress just said although he heard my friend apologize and agreed we would keep it down. (Mind you, this place was empty, maybe 3-4 other tables occupied during our visit at the brewery and we choose to sit out on the patio). This staff member chose to escalate a situation that did not need to be escalated. Our first warning for being loud after 45-1hour was greeted with an apology then answered with aggressiveness? Anyway, my friend responded. Sir, the waitress just said that and yes we will keep it down. Again, the man states that we better keep it down. After that, my friend one last time assures him we understand and don’t need to be reminded 4 times in a row and that the waitress the 1 time was enough. Our waiter comes back to give us our checks, we paid and got up to leave. A staff member, takes a picture of us and proceeds saying derogatory remarks with the aggressive staff member just a few feet away from us and the exit. My friends with there infinite wisdom (kill them with kindness attitude) tells them to have a good day. The host that originally sat us as we road away on our bikes yells, “I hope you get hit by a car!” I can honestly say, I have never been so disgusted with service and blatantly disrespected. I guess bullies need somewhere...
Read moreAfter showing up at 5pm on a Friday and told we’d have to wait an hour… we knew we had to come back to find out what the hype was all about! We tried it on a Thursday night, getting there again before 6pm, and this time we only had to wait 15 minutes until a table opened up - yay! We had already read through the menu, so we ordered right away, but since it was so busy it took 30 minutes for the food to arrive. All the servers/hosts were very nice and attentive, even though they seemed overwhelmed.
It is a cozy place, so during the summer it is probably easier to find a spot with the additional outdoor seating. Because we were seated at the community table, it was extremely loud and difficult to hear each other. Maybe not so bad for the lucky couples tucked at the end of the room with their own tables!
While we waited, we ordered beer from the bar. The list of beers was so long, the digital version on the wall kept rotating before I had a chance to read it. Thankfully a bartender gave us a hardcopy to peruse.
I tried the Elysium IPA and it wasn’t nearly as hoppy as I’d hoped, but still good. My husband tried the Delphi Pale Ale, and it was quite light, easy to drink (but not my kind of beer).
Once the food finally arrived, it was packed with flavor and I realized — this is why this place is so busy! I devoured the Smoked Brisket Grilled Cheese with a side of Apple & Blue Cheese Slaw. Delicious! But I could have easily split it — it was so rich. My husband agreed, saying the same about his. He ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT with a side of Pub Fries.
I really loved the homemade sourdough bread that was used, along with the sauces /spices. My husband felt like the house mayo was spread a little heavy on the BLT, but still an all out good sandwich. It would have helped to have a nice heaping of greens on the BLT, the way I had arugula piled on my sandwich. The sides were quite good — not something to help fill the plate, these had just as much character as the main dish.
We’ll definitely be back to try other brews and food, but much earlier, before...
Read moreI'm giving 2 stars because the beer and food are amazing. I've been here twice and both times I've received the worst service in my life. The first time my husband and I came in shortly after opening and had our dogs. The server was very upset with the fact that she had to unlock 2 chairs outside for us to use while there. She was very rude while taking our orders and even gave us to another server once one came in. We were the only people there! The bartender did apologize profusely for this behavior. The second time I met some friends before a concert for drinks only. I got there before my friends and ordered 2 beers at the same time. One malty beer and their barrel aged stout, to allow the stout to warm up while I drank the other beer. The server laughed when I asked for the stout and said "Um, that's a big boy drink are you sure?" when I replied that I was aware of the abv and that I did in fact want it, he again replied "that's a big boy drink with a high abv. If you don't like it I won't be refunding it. Are you sure you can handle this?" I've never been spoken to that way when ordering beers and was so angry. Once my friends arrived, he was very upset that we didn't order food and never came back to get my friends additional beers after they finished their first round. After waiting for him to come back for their 2nd round for 30min, even though he walked by and ignored all attempts to grab him, I went to the bar and ordered their beers there and paid the bartender separately. Only when he noticed me at the bar ordering drinks did he finally come back to our table only to yell at us for not ordering drinks through him. I was so embarrassed that I recommended and brought my friends here with how bad of an experience we had. I should've taken note from the first visit and not returned. If you do visit be prepared to have horrible service and to be yelled at for being there and expecting to actually...
