Honestly, I usually do not leave reviews but I feel like I have too. I understand it is opening weekend, but I'm pretty upset with the amount of food you get.
We got there at 11:50 and did not get to order until 1:15 PM. I was patient and understanding, and waiting to order was not the biggest downfall for me. What was disappointing was the portion of food.
I ordered the #6 which is the BBQ pork sandwich, as you can see in the picture, the pork is the small, thin, slice of pork. I only received 1 slice of very thin pork on my sandwich. I had more vegetables than I had on meat. My vegetables were thicker than the slice of meat I received.
The bread was good, the vegetables were good, but everytime I took a bite of my sandwich it was 40% veggies, 50% bread and 10% meat. There would be times I would bite into the sandwich and there was no meat at all, just a mouthful of vegetables and bread. I got mine with coffee. The coffee was 90% ice and 10% coffee. I finished my coffee with less than 5 sips.
For the same price as the #6 you can get the combination that will have only a SLIGHTLY more amount of meat. However, for the same price I would expect that if I ordered the BBQ sandwich I would get an equivalent amount of slices and not just 1 slice of pork, while my sister who got the #1 had 1 slice of each of the meat in her combo.
Basically, for the same price you can get 2 more slices of different meat. When normally you would expect that it would be 3 slices total in both sandwich to make it equal and fair in price. Rather than 1 slice of meat vs 3 slices of meats for the same price.
Also the menu is a bit confusing. On the menu screen it says you can get the Asian Combo with any Asian sandwich but at the front I was told you can only get the Asian Combo with the #1 sandwich. I didn't fight it because I didn't want the people behind me to wait any longer.
It's a good sandwich place, and eventually the wait will probably die down so you can receive your food quicker and it may seem a bit more reasonable. But for the price you pay, you might as well go to any other sandwich store in town, or across the street to the Vietnamese restaurant where they also sell banh mi and its the same price but you get MORE for what you pay. Although, I will probably try the restaurant again to see if it was just a poor experience this time.
The food isn't necessarily bad, but just too small for what you pay for. Needless to say, I left the...
Read moreI have to say going into Lee Sandwich was one of the greater spontaneous foodie adventures I have had in a while. I have tried a lot of banh mi sandwiches in my adventures, both abroad and here at home in Colorado. Most of which try and fail to capture the texture complexity that a real banh mi offers. Let me tell you, the #5 sandwich was a perfect 10 when it comes to a banh mi. Let’s work our way from the outside in of this delicate creation. The baguette which your tastebuds first encounter is that of a warm, freshly baked, in house bread. The crisp and chewy texture provides the perfect complement to the crisp, sweet pickled veggies inside. As for the meet, I found the juicy and richness from the pork balanced with the hit of cilantro and jalapeño. And even if the delicious food wasn’t enough to bring you into this restaurant, the welcoming atmosphere from the people surly will. I am so happy to have found a treasure of spot for authentic banh mi and authentic people. I look forward to breaking the bread I bought from them with my family this thanksgiving and fueling my week day lunches...
Read moreI previously made a review when Lee's just opened up. However, I would like to update my review.
For one, the bread at Lee's is amazing. It always has been, even on opening day. Their pastries, baked goods, and pate chauds remain to be my mother's favorite in Colorado Springs. My previous issue was that at the price you pay, you don't get as much meat as some would expect. While it does remain partly true, I just opted to pay the small upcharge fee for extra meat and it really does make the sandwich.
I came two days in a row to give them another chance since wait times have died down. I would have to say that their food is really good and I've always been greeted at the door at both times.
Wait times do take a bit for the sandwiches, but overall I think the sandwiches and everything they offer is still good in taste.
Overall, I would have to say that their sandwiches I prefer in overall taste compared to other fast food sandwich shops in...
