Hubby stopped by this place based on reviews. My kids ordered Boba drinks and potato cheese dogs. Per my kids, the drinks were good but the dogs “didn’t taste as good as the Costco ones”. Hubby ordered a banh mi sandwich which he said was delicious (Giving the 2 stars just for that).
My issue is with 3 things: 1.) The Vietnamese coffee: A 12 oz size is almost $8, which is pretty steep. So we paid $16 for 2 and it was awful. The coffee tasted burnt and bitter and the sweetener tasted artificial. I’m from the Bay Area and there is no shortage of Vietnamese restaurants - and this is the worst Vietnamese coffee I’ve ever had. 2.) The wait time: They were extremely slow. Nobody else was in there, except for one person waiting on their order, and it took almost half an hour for ours. 3.) The credit card set up: While this can totally be avoided with the “skip” option, it is automatically set to 18% tip. This is extremely HIGH (I’ve typically seen it set to 15%) and to be quite honest, I feel this is deceptive, especially if people aren’t expecting it and just agree to the total. This $11 tip was for a to-go order. They also added a fee of $1 PER ITEM for using a card. So an additional $7 was charged, totaling $18 for nothing.
I’ve seen their reviews and they appear to have a lot of regulars, loyal customers, posting positive reviews or defending negative reviews, which doesn’t bother me. What does is the deceptive way in which they operate. Before you start judging, I was not present when they stopped into this place. I would’ve never proceeded with these outrageous charges. But Hubby is much nicer than I am. By the way, if the coffee or dogs had been excellent, I probably could’ve sucked up the extra money wasted but…well, I’m posting this review. $75 for 2 Boba drinks, 2 small coffees, 2 potato dogs and a banh...
Read moreMy husband and I recently visited this spot to try their milk teas, and overall, we had a nice experience. I ordered the honey milk tea with boba, and he went with the honeydew milk tea with boba. The flavor of both drinks was really good — not overly sweet, just the right balance. The boba was perfectly chewy and there was a good amount in each cup, which we appreciated. However, both drinks had quite a bit of ice, and for me, it was a little too much. It diluted the flavor quicker than I would have liked and made it hard to enjoy the full richness of the drink toward the end. We also tried some of their snacks, the potato-wrapped whole sausage and the mozzarella corn dogs. Both were delicious and freshly made. The corn dogs had that perfect crispy exterior with stretchy mozzarella inside, and the potato sausage had a fun texture and flavor combo that made it stand out from the usual snack fare. They also offer Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi), which looked really good on the menu, but we didn’t try them this time. Definitely something we’ll come back for on our next visit. The atmosphere inside is very warm and inviting, with tasteful decor that gives it a cozy but modern feel. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to sit down, relax, and enjoy your food and drinks at a comfortable pace. We’re already looking forward to coming back to try more...
Read moreTheir bánh mì is really good. Generous portions. Combo bánh mì is better than the rest. But bánh mì fish cake (chả cá) and bánh mì pork belly are also pretty good. I hope pork belly skin can be a bit more crispy. Their egg coffee is phenomenal. Just wish they sell smaller size bc their one size only is huge for one person consumptiom. It's hard to eat anything else when you drink that. Their croffles are to-die-for, especially the Paris flavor one. So grateful COS finally has some very decent bánh mì to enjoy. Now, if your stomach doesn't ger along very well with their combo bánh mì, it could be bc of the butter mayo in there and that you may have lactose intollerance. Just tell them to skip it. Still tastes pretty good without it. Glad they have croissant (smaller portion and cheaper) as well as burger buns to try since the traditional baguette bread can be hard on the gum sometimes, especially with their very big size. Wish they had 2/3 of the current loaf size. Half is not enough, full is too much. Don't forget to ask about punch card from them. Also, paying by cash is a bit cheaper than cards. Love their miscellaneous snacks on the shelves and the various dessert too.
Their cream cheese garlic ball (cut up, picture below) is AMAZING. If you like cream cheese and garlic,...
