Ok Sushi, Awful Service. We've eaten here a handful of times and usually have to wait a long time for take out, but the most recent experience was ridiculous. We placed an online order at 6:45 on a Thursday and knew to wait at least 40 minutes before picking up. We showed up at 7:30, and were told it would be 5 minutes. There were two hostesses/expediters (one was training), but the trainer seemed unable to perform many tasks, and for how busy the restaurant was, was doing a lot of standing around and talking. It seemed as though she received no training about how to deal with customers on most levels. 15 minutes went by, and we asked where the sushi was. They said it should be ready soon, so we waited longer. It was only much later that they fessed up and told us that they never put in the order, and even though we had then waited past an hour to get our order, it still was not being expedited to the top of the list. We asked to get a few rolls comped for the mixup (we ordered 6), and they tried to offer us edamame or miso, which we did not want. We then spoke with the owner, who said he couldn't refund any of our order (which is untrue; you can always refund any portion of any order with a regular third party online vendor). He just didn't want to give away any food, even though it was about an hour and 15 minutes since we had ordered rolls. He said we were going to get two free rolls, one california and another more expensive roll for free. We did not ask for this or want this, but at this point we just wanted to get the food and leave. To add insult to injury, when we got home, there was only one extra california roll. They had lied to us about getting two extra rolls, or did not communicate well enough with whomever was packing up the order. We will not be going back. Standard customer service is completely lacking and the food is just ok. The sushi this time around was ok as usual, but the spicy salmon just had a ton of sriracha poured on top. Kind of gross. One of the rolls that was supposed to have a mango sauce and other fillings was just a california roll with some fake crab on top, not real crab as stated in the description, or with the proper ingredients. The other rolls were decent and standard, although the rice...
Read moreThis place should close down. They are doing the same thing that every restaurant is doing now which is lowering the quality of food and raising the price.
The AYCE is $32 for dinner and it is not worth it. In order to limit the amount you eat, the rolls and nigiri are served with extremely large, nearly comical, quantities of pasty, starchy, large grain rice. The dinner comes with a notice that if you don't eat the rice, you will be charged full price. I've eaten at a lot of AYCE sushi places in Nevada and California at a lot of different price points and the roll preparation here is the worst I've seen largely due to the massive amount of rice. On a typical outing, I would usually eat about 30-40 pieces of nigiri because they are only supposed to be a full bit size. But the amount of rice they were placed on here was almost golf ball sized and I felt absurdly full after 10 pieces. It's obvious here they are trying to get you to eat less but pay more and I'm sick of businesses trying to nickel and dime customers.
The fish quality itself varied but was not extremely fresh and was dry. I'm not marking down the quality too much based on this just because I know Colorado Springs is far from the ocean and that's what you get here. However I have had better quality fish at every other sushi place I've eaten at in the Springs so far (which is 4).
The other thing to note was the cucumber salad and miso soup. It's a pretty simple side dish to get right, but the sliced cucumber were about 1/4" thick which means they had no time to marinate and the miso was barely more than warm.
All in all I won't go back. There are many other sushi places to eat at that I can spend $100+ on a dinner and get a much higher...
Read moreOne star is one too many. Quite possibly one of the worst experiences of dining in Colorado Springs. And that’s a lot to say considering The Springs has fair to middle food in general. However this place might very well take the top spot for the worst food, staff, decor and definitely ethics in town. We should have packed our bags and got outta dodge at the off odor at the door but nope we stuck it through “why, why, why?” We should have put our tail between our legs at the site of super dry ginger slices that were starting to brown and wrinkle…..but Nope we stayed. “Why why why??” You would think that the dry nasty lime-green wasabi would have sent us running. Again nope we did not leave. I mean these are the simplest of things that a restaurant should have under control. A clean smelling location, and clearly the basics (wasabi and ginger for a Japanese restaurant) to be of the best condition. Oh and of course the rice…. Yea I lived in Asia for 10 years I would not call what I just ate rice, or fish for that matter. Clearly this is my fault we failed to listen to our senses and continued to order anyway. What we were presented with is far better described as garbage then food. Not a single thing from the menu was even decent it was all horrible and made poorly and tasted worst then it looked. But really none of this matters all that matters is this. AS WE LEFT WE HAD SEVERAL ITEMS INCLUDING A FEW COMPLETE ROLLS WE REFUSED TO EAT. AS I WAS PAYING MY PARTNERS MOTHER WATCHED THE STAFF PREP OUR REJECTS TO GO BACK OUT TO ANOTHER PARTY. Do I need to say more? Nope, I’m just going to say this. I can pay 100.00 for good food why should I pay 100 bucks for...
